It began as a whisper, spoken in low tones in multiple languages in the uneasy night. Talk of a place where the greatest of mecha roam, gathering amongst the desolate ruins of a war prepared for and never fought. The first explorers returned with stories of low frequency weapons, harvested from the ruined depths of a subterranean complex. With these re-engineered into towering relays capable of pure sonic carnage, the lands began filling rapidly with pilgrims from distant places, offering themselves as captives to their own higher mental states. What was once a mere whisper has now become legend, with this meeting of the mightiest clans bringing forth the greatest frequency warriors to stake out their claims. 

EATBRAIN casts a long shadow across the fray, setting seasoned label veterans L 33 and MINDSCAPE into the hordes of adrenaline-fuelled ravers alongside recent label additions MACHINECODE and AGRESSOR BUNX - all of whom have LPs coming on the label as well as appearing at the festival. A tight manifesto is stretched across the 4 rowdy and high-energy tracks that make up the EATBRAIN GOES TO LET IT ROLL, with the irresistible audio manipulative skills of Eatbrain crafted to exquisitely tear up the dance. Night has fallen, the threat of extinction riding on the edge of its transition. Decaying and contorted faces of the undead leer from the shadows, twisted limbs reaching from the darkness towards the eternal signal - driven to crush its subversive broadcast and extinguish the final beacon. A single being stands in their way - the strongest of his kind, the last of a genetic line extending into a derelict past with an imperative to preserve the future. An arsenal of sonic weaponry residing within the lines of his palms, drawn forth through the ancient forms manifested by long-dead masters. His swift movement amongst the shuffling army is efficient - acute strikes snap limbs, raw concentrated power crushes bone, low-frequency techniques leaving little behind from the weight of brutal molecular disruption. With the rising of the sun, only he remains – the broken dead lying scattered and without motion – the focused power of his fighting form has prevailed… the signal is preserved.

Redpill hit the scene with a seismic impact, channelling a work rate which is enviable for even the most long-standing drum & bass artist. Since that first catapult into notoriety, he’s stayed on its forefront by peddling release after release, ensuring each one maintains the incredible production he’s become renowned for. A golden-child of the neurofunk world, Redpill has delivered music for its biggest players, including colossal imprints such as Eatbrain, Invisible, Cause 4 Concern and Bad Taste. For this next single he nestles himself into the discography of Druid Records, a label well known for stretching their feelers throughout drum & basses sound spectrum and building a home for its bustling underground. 

Alongside the growling vocal prowess of Lifesize MC, Redpill offers up an explosive first track for the double sided single. ‘Ruin Orchestra’ is an oxymoron; it draws out an impeccable musicality whilst contorting it into something almost unrecognisable. Snarling from start to finish and clawing at you with every fluctuating set of beats, Redpill douses your aural synapses. The shaking LFO sits beneath its mix, eyeing you menacingly between the dipping bassline. Among the fray, snippets of Lifesize MC’s riddims cut through the composition, with spikes of synth adding an ominous feel. The track’s structure includes a tidal-wave like second breakdown, one which takes you just as deep as the last, never allowing you to come up for air. Redpill demonstrates why he’s made an impact over recent months; his unfaltering standards are recognisable from the very beginning.

On the flipside comes ‘Skies Fall’, a clunking, robotic concoction of heavy-hitting drums and a snake-like bassline. Subs shiver beneath the record’s weight, drawing you closer and closer into its almost demonic grip. With a creeping melody making itself known part-way, it flows from an electronic guitar riff to another tell-tale drop. Redpill does what he does best, leaving no prisoners for an all-out assault on your senses… And both tracks are a testament to that. ‘Skies Fall’ and ‘Ruin Orchestra’ are a force to be reckoned with, much like their creator.
