Bella’s uplifting single ‘Time To Fly’ was recorded in the English countryside and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Produced by Joshua Taylor and influenced by Christian artists; Kevin Prosch, United Pursuit and Kim Walker-Smith, this is Bella’s first distinctly Christian song. 

“After many years of being subtle about my faith I have found the more I’ve drawn closer to Jesus the more I want to sing openly about His love”. 

I wrote this song in the bathroom of my old house in London, in November 2019 right before covid kicked off. I could feel a sense of oppression and suddenly felt the urge to sing something very liberating that could take me up above the situation. Hence 'Time to Fly' emerged! Shortly after writing it, I went to Cambodia and played this song to people who had been through prostitution and abuse of all kinds. They found it so healing. This song is my way of saying ‘Hey devil, you’re not going to hold me down! Nothing is going to stop me from going where God wants me! The scripture that inspired this song is Isaiah 40:31: 

“But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

In the coming weeks I’m moving to Brazil and, as flights open up again, we will once again be taking to the skies. But it’s such an awakening when you realise that with God your spirit can always fly and be free ‘for in Him we live and move and have our being’ and He is omnipresent. Nothing ties God down. He is the ruach (the wind, the Holy Spirit), free to move where He wants. I hope this song refreshes you and brings you hope in what has been a heavy saturated year.  

The guitarist on the track is Pedro Silveira, from Rio de Janeiro! Expect to hear more of him in the future!

Purpose
I write music to show the Father’s heart for mankind and the love of Jesus. Since finding God at 24 I can't stop singing about Jesus and His amazing love. I am on the narrow road writing music completely for God and not for the world. My deep longing is for people to feel the tangible love of God through my music. Jesus said he is the only way to the Father and my aim is for my music to lead you to the bridge that connects us to God, Jesus.

I have seen the power of music to heal and change hearts as well as felt the glory of God and that is my desire through my songs.

My roots
Growing up I was inspired by my dad leading worship at kids’ club at church when I was 3. Then at 8, I started singing melodies to myself acapella. At 14, I was hugely inspired by Jeff Buckley and Tori Amos. From 14 to 24 I was classically trained. After encountering God, at 24 it was like my ears changed and I all I wanted was to listen to music about Jesus. I loved listening to Kevin Prosch and Roy Fields and felt something I had never felt before through music. The tangible glory of God. I was hooked! For the last 2 years I've been influenced by English and Brazilian worship music, People like Davi Sacer, Antonio Cirilo, Kim Walker-Smith.

I want my songs to speak of WHO the person of Jesus is and WHO God is . People can’t worship a God they don’t know. So, my next album is to invite people to get to know Jesus and the love of the Father. So, that they might “hear with their ears, understand with their hearts, and turn, and [He] would heal them.’ (Matthew 13:15) That they might “reach out for Him and find Him” (Acts 17:27) That is what my music is inviting people to. Eternal life. A place where they’ll be “no more death or mourning or crying or pain” (Revelation 21:4)
