“DAGDA” is the lead single off the self-titled debut album by Bella Panic.

I wrote “DAGDA” about my Irish heritage.
Dagda was one of the Tuatha Dé Danann, one of the tribesmen of the gods. A supernatural race in Irish mythology: The first Irishmen. Dagda is a father like figure, a king, a druid, who controls both life and death, the weather and the crops as well as time and the seasons. He has a cauldron that never runs empty, a staff which can kill with one end and bring life with the other. And a harp that can control the emotions of men. 
The mist rolling off the mendips during harsh, muddy winters during a global pandemic seemed to me the grim and perfect place and time to write this song.

"RED APRICOTS" was written in my bedroom studio during the pandemic in 2021. It is the second single from the debut album. The title was inspired by the discarded empresses and concubines throughout history. Chinese literature has an expression for women in this position: the red apricot. "She was like a red apricot leaning over the palace wall and down toward the street..." I wanted to use this description of these women as fruit on the vine growing in the 'wrong direction', and take back some of their power for them.

Bella Panic is an artist, composer, lyricist, singer and music producer. Her first gig was in the Avalon Field of Glastonbury Festival in 2007.

In 2011, Bella performed under the stage name Sucker Twin. She released her first single “MUD” as a collaboration with You Love Her’s debut album, formerly known as You Love Her Coz She’s Dead (NME Award winners 2008 / Kitsune / SKINS / HBOs Girls).

Radio4Extra included her in their Dystopian Playlist, alongside David Bowie and Kate Bush.

With influences such as Vangelis, Stina Nordenstam, Hiroshi Yoshimura, The Sugarcubes, Haruomi Hosono, and Smashing Pumpkins.

The album was written on the Mendips in the pandemic, and is mixed and mastered in London by multi award-winner: Conor O’Brien. Conor has assisted in sound installations for Dave Stewart (Eurythmics) and multimedia artist Kevin Atherton, and has won numerous awards for his film scores.
