PREMIERE • Human Figures - Nothing [Bella Ursa Recordings]

Lost in a sea of feedback, we found this recording washed ashore and apparently having stemmed from an afternoon of live tinkering between DoomDalk and Letherique. Before engaging their sonic arsenal, they asked themselves one simple question: what if John Carpenter and Stephen King went on an uncontrolled bender together and came up with a movie pitch about a horde of killer boats from outer space invading Earth with a cargo full of shapeshifting entities, ready for total assimilation of the planet’s precious resources – including the human race?

Echoing from the heart of these phantasmagoric entities floating through a dark ocean of fears, “The Ultimate Harvest” acts as a fictitious OST of this twisted narrative. Alone, it sparks pure sci-fi atonal madness in a dark and unsettling universe, where the only constant is the relentless and hypnotic pulse of imminent doom.

Hailing from Croatia, Lab Personnel is a musical collaboration turned collective and label between many like-minded artists such as Goran Lautar (aka Neon Lies), Jasmin Mahmić (aka Le Chocolat Noir, Fiume & more), Luka Kurjan (aka Man of Cloth), Marijan Katić, Nikola Kos (aka Ikonal) and Saša Rajković (aka Zarkoff, part of Sumerian Fleet, part of Neugrau & more). Over the years, they would occasionally meet for and record lengthy sessions of improvisational music. 'Marked for Disassembly' is their latest output.

This time, deep within the skeletal remains of an abandoned chemical processing plant, eight of their members captured the disquieting essence of a world suspended between haunting melodies and forgotten industry. Immersed in an atmosphere of palpable musical anxiety, their machines oozed up a sonic alchemy of experimental EBM where strange syncopated drums meet with eerie acid lines and gooey textures.

"Marked for Disassembly" is set to be released on Mar 20th across all digital platforms, accompanied by a beautiful UV printed cassette.

| PREMIERE | Lab Personnel - Swift Getaway | [Bella Ursa]

For its fourth release, French label Bella Ursa Recordings introduces you to its ‘Ursa Scindo’ split series. A simple concept exists at its center: drawing power from duality, two like-minded and complementary artists provide a single track each and then proceed to remix each other out. 

It will not only be released digitally, but also on a single tape with two slightly different designs.

For its first opus, we went down the atmospheric and cinematic techno road with Clarence Rise and label head-honcho Letherique.

Proboscidea, a thirteen-year-old curiosity, which has been patiently waiting for its time to shine all these years, was extracted from a chaotic jam session and restored with care from the embrace of techno limbo. With its ever-mutating alien sounds, heavy syncopated core, and backing synth reminiscent of a robotic elephant trumpeting, it could only have come from the mind of an isolated bedroom producer - someone who genuinely didn’t care about fitting in anywhere and was just having fun making and twisting strange beats.
