I was digging through the crates working on a mix the other day and I was feeling in need of a little Poindexter action. Poindexter is one of my all time favorite drum programmers from the golden years of Chicago. I was going to just do a quick re-rub for a mix I was working on just to add a little flavor. Instead, I ended up doing a full remixing it and some edits. I tried to leave the drums alone because they are just so damn classic...just a few extra chops and drops thrown in. I did add some classic old school bass, keys and fx to keep it true to the era...I think it grooves pretty nicely. It has an old Chicago meets old school Jersey/Zanzibar sound. I know you should not mess with the classics but I thought this turned out pretty cool.

I wanted to take my favorite components of the original and transform it into a late-night burner. I flipped this for a DJ mix I am working on and ended up doing a full on remix. Hope you enjoy it. So, to brighten my my day I flipped a rework of the seminal (and hugely under-rated) jazzy house/techno classic Claire by IO. This came out on a 2x12 on Cheap Records and was later licensed by Mo Wax. It is Patrick Pulsinger's finest production to date. I gave it the Rainy Day treatment for a new mix I am working on. Cold Busted is pleased to finally cozy up with familiar label artist Zac Love for a much deserved album release. Lend Me An Ear marks his first full outing on the label, having previously contributed to multiple various artists compilations. There's obvious 'Love' in Zac's name, and the love in his sound is equally so … it comes from lush strings and atmospheric touches laced with drum break beatdowns. He grew up in New Jersey and is heavily influenced by the Golden Era boom bap sounds of the East Coast. Also a member of the Belmar Sol trio and record label, Zac is not afraid of spreading his musical ideas across straight-up instrumental hip-hop, chill downtempo tracks, and uptempo funk jams. Lend Me An Ear follows suit featuring the snappy drums and chopped up bright melodic content of "Choppy Waters Ahead", the vibe-laden and soul-drenched downtempo of the title track, the slightly more jazzy swing of the funk filled "Crazy Meters", and plenty of other highlights for those in search of feel good beats with plenty of traction.

This is the 5th installment of my Rainy Day Edits & Remixes project. Gemini aka Spencer Kinsey is one of my all time favorite producers and was way, way ahead of his time. He released so many dope tracks on Peacefrog, Planet E, Relief, Cajual, Distance and Classic. I miss this cat as his records were always able to ride the line between deep, experimental and still got the floor packed. This record in particular "The Wave" has one of his best basslines, which is just a classic Juno square bass, which is so infectious. I did this one as a full on remix with my own synths and acid lines as well as all my own drums, just leaving the bassline, and pads as the same. Hope you enjoy this as much as I did paying tribute to one of the best whoever did it.

DayzOne releases his second EP for the Belmar Sol - Dancefloor Division series. Keep it Classic has DayzOne drawing back to his late 80's and early 90's roots of the classic New Jersey sound. DayzOne draws from the past but still retains a modern flair with his two versions of "Keep it Classic". DayzOne is kind enough to give us both an instrumental version and a tracky version with a pronounced vocal sample, as some Jersey heads like it with or without the vox. You decide. Track 3 is called "I Get the Girls" and it is a prime time house/tech burner, which hopefully gets the girlies out on the floor. DayzOne knows that the best parties are when the girlies are out on the floor and this track is for them. Track 4 is titled "Time Machine, which has a deeper late night feel drawing back to classic Detroit techno and classic house. Modern New Jersey stylings based in the present but strongly rooted in the past!

This is for the late night deep dancefloor. DayzOne also drops Jazz Hands Up, which is a classic NYC style house track that leans heavy on the jazz but keeps it moving for the prime time, intelligent dancefloor heads. For those who know.....Logic was the bomb in the early 90's releasing the seminal deep classic "The Warning" on Strictly Rhythm. The year was 1990 and it was only SR's 7th release I believe (SR1207). The Warning is the bomb but I always fell harder for the flip side "The Final Frontier". Straight up deep with one of the most memorable basslines in house, only second to Mr. Fingers - Can You Feel It. I pulled out the vinyl on "The Final Frontier" just make a quick edit/dj tool for a new mix I was working on. I had so much fun I programmed some classic sounding drums and knocked out a few sounds as well. I wanted to keep it minimal and highlight the fantastic bass and not kill the groove with any other instrumentation. I guess this is my take on a classic. Hope you enjoy it. Strictly for those that know.

DayzOne & Zac Love team up for a split EP. DayzOne takes the traditional deep house route laying down a primetime classic house groove titled "All Mine". DayzOne works the infectious vocal sample of Make You Mine throughout the track and offers two mixes both with and without a ripping sax line. Zac Love stays true to his dusty rare groove and sample flipping hip hop roots but ups the tempo for the dancefloor laying down two tracks titled "Rare Form" and "Fast Feet". Rare Form is on the dusty rare groove/sample flip tip with some very nice drums and a Detroitish bassline. Fast Feet is a balaeric/space disco style track laced with organic instrumentation coupled with lush electronics and a funk synth line. Fast Feet is a hands up party track for the intelligent dancefloor.

BSDD011 is our third consecutive ep from France. This time we got LaurentGD dropping four tasty nuggets of deep, funky house with a hint of jazz/funk.Track 1 is titled "Say" and is an infectious house number using a cleverly placed vocal with solid deep chords and a classic bassline. Track 2 is titled "Sweet Time" which is filled with a sweet electric piano line and some funky drums. Track 3 is titled Sacred Geometry" is a deep Detroit influenced classic techno piece with lush pads, dope electronics and old school drums. Track 4 is titled "Classy Girl" which is a dope chop and flip of one of my all time favorite chops. On the hip hop tip with bang bang drums and precision chops.

Miyav`e drops a track called "Tasty", which has some serious deep house leanings with disco tinged drums and infectious horns, which makes this track pump. Track 4 is from Mucity hailing from Russia. Mucity drops "Memorie" which is serious late 80's classic deep house. If I didn't tell you, you would think this was a long lost Chicago track that is sorely missing from your collection. Classic!
