“My track ‘Leap’ actually started as a sound design project in massive. The plucky bassline was the result of it, as I started playing around with the bass, the melody and the chords came along naturally. This track is quite different from my other projects which really made it more fun to work on. My main goals for this project was to not use any sounds that I’ve used in the past. This is a really good practise technique for me as it encourages you to experiment with new sounds”

“I wanted to capture a sort of ‘wavy, echo’ vibe with the track. Words that came to mind were aqua and cloud. I had been listening to a lot of Vaportrap, Blank Banshee and Vaperror, and I was taking a lot of that ‘Airy Trap’ inspiration from them. I wanted to make the track have this sort of cloudy/ethereal vive to it, yet still have a bouncing beat and bass. You float on the harmonies and soundscapes, but at the time the drums and bass keep you grounded and rhythmic. I threw a pretty ‘iconic’ sample in there (not talking about the lead vocals) which I think really helped lift the up track into that sort of ‘echo’ space”

Nuna: “I had been sitting on this track for almost a year now, mostly because I lost 1/3 of the project and had to rebuild it multiple times. The original concept behind the song represents the joy I feel while making music, incorporating playful and somewhat childish properties much like my own personality, the song had been collecting dust so I sent it to Ben to freshen it up”

Cynabel: “If there was ever a last minute song this is it. Jacob sent this beat to me less than a week before release, asking me to touch up the mixdown while he was dealing with academic work. Because I care too much about him, I wasn’t about to let him release it without a serious injection of groove. So I stayed up until 2am to rearrange a few things and add a dash of synth work. The project still holds quite a unique sentimental value, so I was very touched by that and wanted to do the current iteration justice and poured all my efforts into finishing, developing the flu as a result of my sleep deprivation (totally worth it)”

I was really stressed out at the time due to my college schedule and other things getting in my head, and music was my outlet. “At the time I was inspired by Grey’s use of percussion in their songs, so the original focus for this song were the drums. After I had the drums down, I wanted to make something weird to go with them. After modulating every knob, I could think of in Serum, I had created the lead, the new main focus for the song.”

“A couple months ago I came up with the concept of this track, and quickly mocked up the instrumental, and eventually linked up with the amazingly talented Anna. From there, the barebones tracks came together so quickly. Musically, I was inspired a lot by really bright pop I grew up with, but wanted to give it my own personal spin.
