i don’t like silence.
i don’t like silence, because when there’s no noise, the noise gets louder inside my head. 
all the things i’m scared of, the things i’m worried about come crawling to the surface reminding me i’m not as okay as i claim to be.
noise is what makes the day bearable, what makes me able to function.
white noise, music, i don’t really care.
the voices in the back of my head telling me that i’m failing, telling me i’m not good enough. 
but when the music starts playing those voices get quieter. 
they don’t feel so, present, anymore.
i don’t like silence.
when it’s dark outside and most of the people around me are sleeping, i stay up because it’s the only time i feel like i have control over what i do. 
it’s the only time no one needs anything from me, no words, no actions, no responsibilities.
but that’s also the time that the world is silent.
where there’s a positive, there’s a negative.
i’m free to do what i want, but it’s silent.
so, i pop in my earbuds or put on my headphones and let myself drown in the beautiful music filling my ears.
it’s what keeps me sane.
