Deep in the Mojave Desert, under the November full moon known among many names as the "Moon When All Is Gathered In", we gathered and danced for the last time in 2013 . . . and what a gathering it was! This set was played in the wee hours of the night into the sunrise, during a most epic moonset. 
Many thanks to everyone who 'gathered in' to bring this very active year of Full Moon Gatherings to a close with such a wonderful dance.

Naskapi (also known as ᐃᔪᐤ ᐃᔨᒧᐅᓐ/Iyuw Iyimuunin the Naskapi language) is an Algonquian language spoken by the Naskapi in Quebec and Labrador, Canada. It is written in Eastern Cree syllabics.

The term Naskapi is chiefly used to refer to the language of the people living in the interior of Quebec and Labrador in or around Kawawachikamach, Quebec. Naskapi is a "y-dialect" that has many linguistic features in common with the Northern dialect of East Cree, and also shares many lexical items with the Innu language.

Although there is a much closer linguistic and cultural relationship between Naskapi and Innu than between Naskapi and other Cree language communities, Naskapi remains unique and distinct from all other language varieties in the Quebec-Labrador peninsula.

One of the hardest working promoters, talent buyers and booking agents in the North American electronic music scene, Justin has been responsible for touring numerous acts, across North America & beyond since 2003. He owns and operates “Nexus Artist Management”, along-side Chris Pattison (Co-owner) and together they work with some of the biggest Producers and DJ’s across the Dance Music Universe.

Outside of the Booking Agency and Production company, Justin R.E.M. finds his place in the DJ Booth, playing everything from Deep House to Techno, his dancefloor deliveries are both technical and sophisticated in sound. He’s played countless shows over the years, at venues to include the Dominican Republics’ High Room, Halcyon and Orchard Bar, in N.Y.C., the Winter Music Conference in Miami & Hawaii’s Ambrosia Ultra-Lounge, to name a few. Oakland Decom 2025

For this set - the first night-time techno set I've played since Moontribe October 2011 - I wanted to really go for a psychedelic feel more than anything.  I mean generally I'm identified as one of the groovier djs at full moon, the most likely to play a house set.  I love that but night-time sets at full moon give me a chance to express myself in a  little different way.  So this set is…intense…maybe not so groovy…full-on techno with lots of atmosphere… a little dark perhaps…not housey at all.  Well, enjoy!  Maybe not right before bed though.  Maybe for a long drive.  Or to clean the house… vigorously.  Your comments, favoritings and FB likes are always appreciated :)

Oh, and the party was absolutely AMAZING!  I only got a couple pics of the night from my phone but will put a better one up if I get one from someone else.

Biography:

In his zone from deep house to techno, Ben Annand pairs impeccably smooth mixing skills with a dynamic style that keeps the music moving, artfully playing with breakdowns and spending most of his time in the mix.

“For me, a great mix is the interplay of 2 unique pieces of music, creating something greater than the sum of the parts - and a great set weaves those mixes into a musical flow you can’t help but lose yourself in on the dance floor.”

Ben fell in love with dancing and rave culture in 1995, and learned to mix in 1996. Just 2 years later he became resident dj at the famed Moontribe Gathering, and started his own production company, Tropical. The first half of his career was mostly focused on DJing abroad, with 13 trips to Moscow’s Propaganda club, travel across Russia, Spain, and Mexico, an appearance at Wiggle at Fabric in London and two at the Labyrinth Festival in Japan.  

In more recent years, Ben Annand became a top West Coast festival DJ, and recently played a standout set at his 5th consecutive Lightning in a Bottle (CA). He has also appeared at Sunset Campout and Desert Hearts (CA), Oregon Eclipse (OR), Photosynthesis and Cascadia (WA), Shambhala and Motion Notion (BC, Canada).

As organizer of Tropical, he's donated over $32,000 to charity, hosted zero-waste events in Hawaii, and presented gender-balanced dj lineups.

Whatever his project,, Ben Annand is always contributing, and always thinking outside the box.

The cosmic dancer who performs his divine dance to destroy a weary universe and make preparations to start the process of creation anew.
