The Trances ep on Hivern Discs was one of my favourite records of 2014, so I was very happy to have the chance to remix it. 

I brought the tempo down to 116 BPM, restraining some of the abrasive elements to make a lower-slung version that is a bit easier to play out.

Trances Remixed is released February 2015 on @turborecordings and will also include mixes from Clarian and Pilooski.

El Guincho side project gets the remix treatment from edit-champ Pilooski, Visionquest / Soft Touch mega-talent Clarian and Turbo / Multi Culti A&R Von Party.

Spanish musician Pablo Diaz-Reixa, best known for his psychedelic, tropical pop act El Guincho (released on Young Turks), posted 5 sample-based tribal tracks back in 2013 on the site tranc.es. The music drew the attention of John Talabot, who released two of them, titled simply '4' and '5,' onto his Hivern Discs label, as a vinyl-only release, which found it's way to Thomas Von Party and inspired this remix pack.

Pilooski hasn't released much music of late, but what he has put out has been of exceptional quality, with remixes for I:Cube and Tim Paris being highlights of 2014. His remix of Trances 4 is a sprawling modular head-trip, far out in every way, yet somehow listenable and versatile as a DJ tool. 

The increasingly prolific Clarian (formerly of Footprintz), flexes a progressive acid house builder out of Trances 5, proving his skill in yet another facet, after an incredibly wide range of releases ranging from indie rock on Seth Troxler's Soft Touch to indian chant-pop on his Multi Culti EP. It's a sonic departure from the original, but one that stays true to the verb in question.

Finally, Von Party brings the tempo down on to a smooth 116 BPM, restraining some of the abrasive elements to make for a low-slung crowd-pleaser that works equally as warm-up or late-night takedown - already played and supported by Tiga.

Also included in the package are the amazing originals, available for the first time digitally, and as a digital exclusive, a previously unheard alternate version of Trances 4.

Over Christmas 2014 I needed a break from recording
my album, searching online for a song I recalled from
my youth, I fell into a rabbit hole of thousands of
YouTube playlists and posts, rediscovering the songs
my friends and I would gather and listen to as
13 & 14 yr olds every Saturday in East Berlin on Radio DT64
(now Berlin's Radio Fritz).

I stumbled back to the future, collecting over 5000 songs
on YouTube, learning for the first time the artists behind
the songs we heard almost 25 years ago.

The forthcoming trilogy is the result of 18 month
of building edits from YouTube recordings and stitching
them together off-line. I could not include every song,
nor indeed even the entire tracks from this small period
until 1993, so this is my personal history of electronic
music arriving in Berlin.

This trilogy will not be sold, it was a labor of love,
born of nostalgia and made for sharing.

After joining the Token family with the release of Our Father/A Better Way Of Living in 2015, Sigha is back with another double A-side in the same vein as the last: A booming, atmospheric achievement, once again showcasing his signature attention to detail and exploring the concepts of purity, faith and religion.
 
The resounding intensity of Christ Figures is layered with emotive and staccato melodic elements. At times distant, and then rising to the forefront of the soundscape; in their more muted moments these elements only hint at the form of a melody, their restraint heightening the track's sense of melancholic romanticism.
 
On the other side, Sigha advances on the themes from the track Puritan on his 2012 album Living with Ghosts. New Puritan offers a similar hypnotism, with an untiring interaction between mid-range and bass that demands transfixion from the offset and retains it until the end.

Ben Egger, Benoit Dumas de son vrai nom est un jeune musicien autodidacte né en 1990, passionné de synthèse et de hardware. Né d’une mère à la fois pianiste classique et contrebassiste de jazz, il a grandi dans le sud de la France bercé entre plusieurs styles musicaux.

Ben découvre la techno en 1998 et commence à s’y intéresser plus profondément avec l’acquisition de sa première machine à l’âge de 14 ans. Il commence à mixer peu de temps après sur platines vinyles dans diverses soirées privées en compagnie d’amis amateurs de techno. Il ne cessera ensuite de se perfectionner jusqu’à signer ses premières compositions en 2013 sur un label berlinois.

en 2014 il rencontre DJ Saint Pierre, fondateur du label Hexa Rec. Leur passion commune pour la musique électronique aboutira sur une amitié solide et une collaboration fructueuse au sein du label qui conduira à la sortie de son premier E.P. sur Hexa Rec : « Swell »

Ben Egger a.k.a. Benoit Dumas, born in 1990, is a young self-taught musician, keen on synthesis and hardware. Raised from a mother both classical pianist and jazz bassist, he aged in the south of France swirling between various musical styles.

Ben discovered Techno music in 1998 and begun to be very interested with his first machine acquisition at the age of 14, and then by properly learning to mix with vinyl plates in numerous private techno parties with friends. He then never ceased to improve himself and his style until he signed his first tracks in 2013 on a berlin label. He released tracks on various labels such : Groove Factory

In 2014, Ben Egger met D.J. Saint Pierre, founder of Hexa Rec label. Their common passion for electronic music led them to a strong friendship and a fruitful collaboration inside the label, conducting to the release of his first E.P.on Hexa Rec : « Swell »
