We all know that the best way to procrastinate from more serious study is to write a song to help you remember the Hebrew alphabet. The letters with final forms are repeated as a reminder, some of them anyway... some of them got in the way of the groove... the 'het'? that was just for fun. and yes i was feeling a little silly when i wrote this.

This song celebrates the short life of little Elka Watson who was taken by the Lord before her life outside the womb began. 
While she never got the chance to breath and bloom, her life has the dignity of one formed in the image of God, and the gospel of the Lord Jesus gives hope that death is not the end for those whose trust is in the one who conquered death.

Certain TV presenters and the like will tell you that Christmas is all about spending time with family and friends. While this is definitely a highlight for many people at this time of year, is it helpful to sum up Christmas entirely in this way? If so, what a hollow, even hurtful message for those who are alone, and a dissatisfying conclusion for those who are searching for answers in life. 
This is my message to the world that no matter who you are and what you are going through this year, Christmas has much more to offer than just good times. Christmas celebrates an open invitation to share in the hope, fulfillment and joy of living in the company of the giver of everything good. Not just for a few days over summer, but for eternity. Have you rsvp'd?

Something for the kiddies 

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)

Prayer song

In these verses God made some promises to this guy Abram and they've shaped the course of history. But most of all we see these verses fulfilled in Jesus Christ who is the fulfillment of all God's promises (2Cor 1:20). In Him everyone can find blessing, hope and riches for all eternity.

Song for Macca

One of the authors of the New Testament describes his life as being like living in a tent. Maybe you can relate to this? Let me explain: a tent is temporary and relatively insubstantial. It's never particularly comfortable and when bad whether comes along it gets even worse. While there's things that are really enjoyable about being in a tent sooner or later you just wish you were home. 

I don't know about you but life feels like this for me sometimes. Whether it's events that are out of my control or grieving my own failure or ineptitude to help and love others, sometimes I just wish things were different. Don't you?

The good news in the bible is that there is a hope for a time when things will be different. When Jesus will return and call home all those who trust in Him to be in perfect existence with Him and His people forever.

"For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands. Meanwhile we groan, longing to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling." (2 Corinthians Chapter 5 verses 1 and 2.

I wrote this song as I grappled with (among other things) not knowing how to comfort a close friend whose niece was still born. It's news like this that makes me ache for things to be restored.
