Born: 6 November 1971 in Queens, NYC, USA.

Joey Beltram is widely acknowledged as a leading innovator in the early development of underground dance music.

Joey began DJing as a hobby back in 1983 at the age of 13 playing mostly early electro and hip-hop. He made the switch to house music in 1985 when the first wave of Chicago house hit NYC that same year.

In 1989 he started releasing some of his early productions on several small New York record labels whilst he was working as a courier. A year later he caught the eye of R & S Records in Belgium and by mid 1990 released his first major record with that company titled "Energy Flash". Beltram soon followed with some equally impressive releases.
All through the 90's he has created some of the most timeless music on some of the most cutting edge labels of the decade.

I love opening sets.

Opening sets allow the DJ to create the atmosphere for an entire night and are a true challenge (and lost artform) for those DJs, who travel from town to town every weekend playing 2 hour peak-time sets.

Opening sets allow to play tracks (and / or songs) that you usually don't hear in a club when you arrive after a certain time due to the DJs fear of losing people off the dancefloor (so what? :-D ).

For this and other reasons I dedicate this mix to those who tend to come (too) late and to those who come early at the same time and send a huge "THANK YOU!" to those who were participating LIVE in this session. 
Also to those who contributed a few "WHOOHOOOs" in silent passages - one of the many nice things you only get when playing vinyl :)

It was a pleasure seeing the packed floor bouncing...early, did I mention that? 

There is this line in the song "Hello" by The Beloved:

    All you late-comers, just step on board.
    I'm happy, glad you came.
    So welcome home again!

"Saturday Night Live" was recorded live on Saturday, January 26th 2013 at Panorama Bar in Berlin with roughly 98% vinyl & some unreleased tracks from CD.
The mix begins at 12:30am and ends 4:30am with some feedback from Virgo Four's microphone. Enjoy!

We're delighted to welcome a real revered figure from the techno world to our Club 69 Presents mix series - our friend Dave Angel.  He's graced the Rave Cave many a time, and this Lockdown mix will bring it all back...

When TECHNO used to be fast, funky and fantastic! This first excerpt from a multi-hour set recording from January 5, 2003, in which Claus Bachor and his "long-time partner" Roland Casper played for the Munich party crew "Tanzdiebe" one of the last parties in the former club legend of the Bavarian State capital to be played at all in that year. 

Both are still cited today with the following words: "The club was packed as usual. Sweat dripped from the ceilings everywhere, while the incredible bass in the club constantly drove the party crowd to more and more top dance action until the early hours of the next day and kept on being screamed out on the dance floor. The end of ULTRASCHALL II (same to be mentioned for ULTRASCHALL I), like so many nights we had played there before, was simply unforgettable. Just said 'Gone one day, but never forgotten!'"

More facts about ULTRASCHALL I & II: In the history of germany's night clubbing there are a few spaces that are probably held in higher regard than Ultraschall. Munich's gone but not forgotten famous ULTRASCHALL (june 17.1994 - january 31.2003) used to be the Southern German metropolitan’s wildest and most open-minded venue for techno and other game forms of electronic music like House, Future Minimal and IDM. It finally became one of a few real German techno club legends till today. The driving force(s) behind all used to be Peter Wacher (Disko B records) also known as DJ Upstart, Captain Reality and David Süß, where the whole world league of Techno and House DJs used to play at this club.

Psycho Thrill founder Claus Bachor "played here regularly d2000 magazine and Psycho Thrill club specials since 1995 like 'Detroit Pandemonium' 2gether with our buddies Roland Casper, Mick Wills, Derrick Thompson or Thomas Barnett alongside Ultraschall residents like DJ Hell, Lester Jones, Dominik Schuster or Acid Maria."
