I wake up to go to school. I can’t wait to give my friends a high five. Sometimes I like to nod to those that I don’t know. When they nod back I feel like the emperor from social studies. It's all about getting the most nods per day. That’s how you know you’ve made it. Made it like the monarchy from social studies/ made it like the warriors from social studies. Todays a different day because some are saying ‘hey’. I’m preferring a real hello at least. This will be my cross to bare. But are they smiling under their masks or are they frowning? Do they mean the best wishes that I wish for the rest, or are they evil robots from the modern industrial revolution.

7. Giant Unicellular Water Slug Calls

Written in 2012, this was a compositional period for me where I wanted to work on extending thematic development as far as possible through ambiguous rhythms and staying within a single mood. This piece was written for my teacher at UCLA, Professor Paul Reale. He studied with George Crumb and was an amazing mind that helped me appreciate and truly love and appreciate the three B's: Brahms, Beethoven, and Bach. This is a midi recording. Prelude for a Winding Robot (2012)

Written in 2011, this piece was inspired by the Japanese warrior Atsumori who would carry his flute into battle. Originally it written for flutist Maron Khoury, this piece was one of the first ones I wrote that explored texture and harmony while continuing my efforts in developing a theme within a single mood. This is very rough track. I'm using a 19/4 cycle throughout with a couple breaks that are cued (if in a live setting). The vocals are very scratchy. It was mainly the rhythm and structure I was focused on. I'm also trying to find more ways to fit my particular voice type in different settings. This is another attempt.
