Legalese.
Here the first thing to change 
Is the looks and the smiles
As the summer gets old
The eyes they will change
From loving to cold.
Then, we become lawyers with our choice of words
No more babies and nicknames
We both now play word games
To show we are both moving on.

And I remember the time
Looking over the crowd
I remember I knew
Whatever I’d do 
This moment would not last
And so from wanting to be
And wanting to know
 Now you want to be free
Free without me
Like I was holding you down
So why’d you bother at all?

I can’t hang on
But I can’t let go
You’re moving on
But I’m stuck in stone.

So now I’m left to put meaning to any of this
To understand why
When you came to try
You chose to cut and run.
So what, if anything did what you say to me mean?
Was it spur of the moment?
A throwaway comment?
As I boarded a plane?
Please explain?
