This weeks Real_Techno mix is from none other than the Space DJ'z Ben Long! He's given us a slammin' mix featuring Surgeon, Broom, Voorn, Sims, Garnier, Hood, Mills and many other luminaries of the global techno scene.
Honing his skills Ben’s debut appearance was alongside Bandulu and The Orb. It was Infonet that was to be the platform for The Space DJ’z first release ‘Loose Change’ then again when the duo’s seminal ‘Return to Earth’ Ben used his new found fame to set up his own record label Potential Recordingz.
Soon Ben’s production and remixing skills were in demand from such heavyweight techno labels as Primate, Tortured, Advanced, Audio, Potential has featured producers such as Umek, Ade Fenton and Chris McCormack, and the label releases the highest quality techno.
As dj’s, Ben Long and Jamie Bissmire have been performing individually, and as Space DJ’z for over 25 years, regularly playing at techno clubs across the world.

Berghain mixes series

Irish label Gobsmacked has recently celebrated it's 10th birthday, and to mark this milestone, will release three VA compilations. With humble beginnings as a club-night in the South East Waterford city techno scene in 2007, the transformation to a label began with a blanket ban on electronic music events in the city, and the lust to create a platform for releasing music from local artists. Early releases received rave reviews and support across the spectrum of the international techno scene, which increased the confidence of the label and with this, the catalog grew with more and more increasingly eclectic sounds from international artists. The label made the move to Berlin in 2010, seeing no real progress in the Waterford/Irish scene, the draconian closing times, and police harassment of promoters/artists involved in organising techno events. This move developed into countless organised events, underground shows, podcast series, secret collaborations, and releases from hundreds of international artists. The first two celebratory VA compilations "10 Years Underground" consists of 60 tracks in two volumes, released over the label's first decade, which became the defining sounds of the label and the artists it promoted. The final VA compilation consists of the sounds Gobsmacked will be promoting in the immediate future, from artists considered to produce timeless dance-able electronic music in the underground sound of the label.

With this Remix of Hiroaki  lizuka Portmento for Miss Electric's MER label Ben Long teams up with US vocalist Kevin Hollins AKA Rory Breaka for their 1st official outing. Breaka has his roots in Hip Hop and R&B but has recently crossed over to the dark side and put his Techno hat on . The duo are working on a hybrid sound of song based Techno / Electronic  music with a edgy and funky vibe . Watch out for more projects to come !

Ben Long forma parte de Space DJz,  dúo afincado en Londres que comparte con su compañero Jamie Bissmire con el que ha publicado en sellos como Soma donde debutaron en largo en 1999 con On Patrol!. Un año antes funda el sello Potential Recordingz  para publicar su material en solitario y el de otros productores afines como Umek, Ade Fenton  o Chris McCormack. Con el tiempo lanzará al mercado el subsello Ergonomix más centrado en las Dj Tools.

Long publicará en sellos como Primate Recordings, Fuine Audio, Tortured Records o Pounding Grooves, entre otros. Más recientemente, el londinense debuta  en la plataforma EPM en 2014 con Toltec EP (título que remite al idioma de los indios mexicanos de antes de los mayas y los aztecas que se establecieron en Teotihuacán al norte del actual país norteamericano). La referencia cuenta con dos remezcladores de peso como Detroit Grand Pubahs y Darko Esser.
