Matthieu Faubourg's epic opener - the tactile, melodious, dreamy and life-affirming "Please, Stay", which more than justifies its 10-minute duration -
feels like a statement of intent, while Dub Striker's "Mood" recalls classic New York and New Jersey bumpers of old. On the flip, Harrison BDP gets busy with Syclops style synth bass, floatation tank chords and shuffling percussion on "Decompression", before ManooZ goes ultra-deep on the dusty and woozy "Tinted Windows". A very fine debut, all told. »

Nature documentaries of the 1970s used synthesizer music to score messages about species endangerment and environmental disaster prevention. Electronic instrumentation was in itself an ominous warning of the reckless advancement of technology and an effort to audition a utopian harmony between people and machines and nature. 

Photay’s debut full-length ​Onism​ inherits the same historical tension in an age of climate change and social media addiction. It is also a reflection of personal conditions, a meditation on place, community, and its creator’s own embodied history. The word ‘onism,’ invented by John Koenig, means the frustration of being stuck in just one body that inhabits only one place at a time. 

To grasp onism is to be apprised of how little of the world you have experienced, are experiencing, or will ever experience. Photay (Evan Shornstein) composed ​Onism​ in the heart of Brooklyn and shrouded by the silence of national parks or on trips home to the woodlands of the Hudson Valley in between touring the urban centers of foreign countries. Scattered but connected, ​Onism’s​ music is a constellation that rips across the night sky of time, charting an emotional reality defined by sadness and joy, dread and wonder.

This is our first ever cover song. We know that Led Zeppelin is considered by many to be "untouchable" and that even attempting something like this could be offensive, wrong, whatever. But fuck it. Music is supposed to be fun, and making this was one of the most fun productions we've done. No Quarter is our favorite Zep tune, and that's probably because its one of the only songs in which they use a synth and some keyboards. Its a dark, intense, classic song with a crazy storyline and meaning. Apparently when it was first released it got terrible reviews from Rolling Stone and the other folks in the industry that "know what they're talking about," and maybe that's why we love it so much. Take a listen, let us know what you think, maybe you find it interesting, maybe you think we've butchered a classic... either way, we loved making it.
