Here is the story behind his tracks:

"Earl Grey: This track started as a hardware jam at the end of 2022. In spring 2024, Leliah brought it to life with her beautiful voice.

Last Night at the Bus Stop: My best friends visited me for a three-day music session last year. After accompanying one of them to the bus stop, I found myself alone in my home studio and started this track.

Schneeflocken: The initial idea for this track came to me on a mild summer night, and for some reason, I felt a longing for winter.

The Other Side of the Coin: This track was inspired by participating in the January challenge of 2023."

Son of the nature

"Poolside Pearlers" includes six sun-spun productions best served poolside. Proto Exotica’s maiden compilation dips into shimmery jazz, acid-tinged breaks, low-slung downtempo, and the sweet spot between Balearic and ambient.

Each track is an asynchronous contribution from friends across the Asia-Pacific region: Mori Ra, Sonder Plains, Tucan Discos, Bongomann, Max Hammur, and Gold Suite. By taking away the barriers of location and time, self-paced collaboration let each sound breathe in, breathe out and find its natural place.

Bene Shanks is a multi-talented instrumentalist who has weaved both acoustic and electronic threads through the fabric of Aotearoa's diverse musical scene since his teenage years.

Making sound waves for the likes of Che Fu and The Rooftop Collective hasn’t stopped him developing an ability to weave magic carpets out of electronic materials.
His experience floating between the hemispheres of band mentality and solo masher-upperer has led him beyond remixing top 40 hits into songs he thought he wanted to hear at festivals, to actually playing festivals.

You can expect Bene's tour bus through sound-space to be genre-bending, but thankfully physics has explained this through the theory of quantum superposition.
