A hardware jam with mpc, synths etc then jammed some more in ableton live. Made mostly for the purpose of having fun! Late night weirdness for when you're in an unknown place with unknown people but having the time of your life.

I took a similar approach to last year's track, using the samples for building up a drum track - lots of trimming, tuning, chopping etc. Mainly working with the ol' MPC2000XL and ableton live with some top secret plugins. And a healthy dose of my DIY 909 kick module for good measure!

Think About It

Ben Houghton is a Melbourne based composer & music producer. Ben brings a creative and design-based approach to each project, working to ensure that music is unique, emotive and seamlessly integrated. With a broad interest in many styles of music, Ben focuses on narrative rather than genre.

In 2019 Ben won the Best Music Production award at the inaugural Creative Cup At Box Hill Institute for his production work on the track “Figures” by Point Blank. Other projects included VCA Masters theatre production “LuNa” (dir Kitan Petkovski) & several short film collaborations including “Home” (dir Alan Woodruff), “Love Locks” (dir Joshua Machuca) and “An Inaccurate & Dramatic Re-enactment of The Great Emu War of 1932” (dir EM Leunig).

In 2018 Ben worked on scoring multiple short films including “Pastel Stains” (dir Claudine Ocampo), which featured at Swinfest. Ben also contributed sound design and music for “The Children’s Hour” (dir Sarah Vickery), a VCA Masters theatre production.

Ben is currently studying the Bachelor of Applied Music (Composition) at Box Hill Institute.
