The Greatest Commandment
(Matthew 22:34–40; Mark 12:28–34)

1These are the commandments and statutes and ordinances that the LORD your God has instructed me to teach you to follow in the land that you are about to enter and possess, 2so that you and your children and grandchildren may fear the LORD your God all the days of your lives by keeping all His statutes and commandments that I give you, and so that your days may be prolonged. 3Hear, O Israel, and be careful to observe them, so that you may prosper and multiply greatly in a land flowing with milk and honey, just as the LORD, the God of your fathers, has promised you.

4Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is One.a 5And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.b

6These words I am commanding you today are to be upon your hearts. 7And you shall teach them diligently to your children and speak of them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8Tie them as reminders on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 9Write them on the doorposts of your houses and on your gates.

10And when the LORD your God brings you into the land He swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, that He would give you—a land with great and splendid cities that you did not build, 11with houses full of every good thing with which you did not fill them, with wells that you did not dig, and with vineyards and olive groves that you did not plant—and when you eat and are satisfied, 12be careful not to forget the LORD who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.

13Fear the LORD your God, serve Him only, and take your oaths in His name.c 14Do not follow other gods, the gods of the peoples around you. 15For the LORD your God, who is among you, is a jealous God. Otherwise the anger of the LORD your God will be kindled against you, and He will wipe you off the face of the earth.

16Do not test the LORD your God as you tested Him at Massah.d 17You are to diligently keep the commandments of the LORD your God and the testimonies and statutes He has given you. 18Do what is right and good in the sight of the LORD, so that it may be well with you and that you may enter and possess the good land that the LORD your God swore to give your fathers, 19driving out all your enemies before you, as the LORD has said.

Teach Your Children

20In the future, when your son asks, “What is the meaning of the decrees and statutes and ordinances that the LORD our God has commanded you?” 21then you are to tell him, “We were slaves of Pharaoh in Egypt, but the LORD brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand. 22Before our eyes the LORD inflicted great and devastating signs and wonders on Egypt, on Pharaoh, and on all his household. 23But He brought us out from there to lead us in and give us the land that He had sworn to our fathers.

24And the LORD commanded us to observe all these statutes and to fear the LORD our God, that we may always be prosperous and preserved, as we are to this day. 25And if we are careful to observe every one of these commandments before the LORD our God, as He has commanded us, then that will be our righteousness.” Etc

This is my 40th Album which is a double Album and Side A is ‘Shades of The Shads...Vol.3’ and Side B is ‘Let’s Dance...Vol.6’.

The music of the Shadows is what got me interested in learning to play the Guitar. So, Shades of the Shads...Vol.3 comprises 25 tracks that cover the period 1960 to 1998.

‘Atlantis’ is a rock music instrumental and was released as a single in May 1963. 

‘Zambesi’ by The Shadows was written by Nico Carstens and Anton De Waal and released it on the album ‘Dance with The Shadows’ in 1964.

Foot Tapper’ is an instrumental by British guitar group the Shadows, released as a single in February 1963. 

‘Kon-Tiki’ is an instrumental tune by British group the Shadows, released as a single in September 1961. 

‘1861’ written by Brian Bennett, Bruce Welch and Hank Marvin and was released on the album ‘Out of the Shadows’.

‘Apache’ is a song written by Jerry Lordan and first recorded by Bert Weedon. The Shadows released their own version which topped the UK Singles Chart for five weeks in mid-1960.

’36-24-36’ is an instrumental tune by British group the Shadows, released as the B side of ‘Kon-Tiki’ single in 1961. 

‘Shazam’ is an instrumental tune by British group the Shadows, released as the B side of ‘Geronimo’ single in 1960.

‘Man of Mystery’ is a song by the Shadows, released as a single in November 1960. It peaked at number 5 on the UK Singles Chart.

‘The Frightened City’ is a song by British group the Shadows, released as a single in April 1961. It peaked at number 3 on the UK Singles Chart.

‘The High and the Mighty’ is a cover song in which the Shadows recorded an instrumental version and released it on their Album ‘Dance With the Shadows’ in 1964. 

‘Peace Pipe’ is a song recorded by the Shadows and released on their Album ‘Meeting With The Shadows’ in 1960.

‘The Breeze and I’ is a cover version by the Shadows on the B side of their single ‘Foot Tapper’.

‘Las Tres Carabelas’ is a song recorded by the Shadows and released on their Album ‘The Shadows’ in 1961.

‘Cavatina’ is a 1970 classical guitar piece by British composer Stanley Myers and popularised as the theme from ‘The Deer Hunter’ some eight years later. The Shadows recorded their cover version and released it on their Album ‘String of Hits’ in 1979.

‘Don't Cry for Me Argentina’ is a song recorded by Julie Covington for the 1976 concept album Evita,  The Shadows recorded their cover version and released it on their Album ‘String of Hits’ in 1979.

‘Shindig’ is an instrumental by British group the Shadows, released as a single in September 1963. It peaked at number 6 on the UK Singles Chart.

‘Ghost Riders in the Sky’ is a song written in 1948 by American songwriter Stan Jones. The Shadows recorded their cover version and released it on their Album ‘String of Hits’ in 1979.

‘F.B.I.’ is an instrumental rock tune recorded by the British group the Shadows and released as a single in February 1961. 

‘Geronimo’ is an instrumental tune by British group the Shadows, released as the A side of ‘Geronimo’ single in 1960.

‘Like Strangers’ is a song recorded by the Shadows and released on their Album ‘Specs Appeal’ in 1975.

‘Find Me A Golden Street’ was written by Norman Petty and was first released by Norman Petty Trio in 1960. The Shadows released their version on their Album ‘The Shadows’ in 1961.

‘Theme From Giant’ is taken from the film ‘Giant’ and was released by the Shadows on their first EP single in 1960.

‘The Miracle’ is a song by the Shadows and released on their Album ‘The Early Years 1959-1966’ in 1998.

‘The Third Man’ is a song by the Shadows and released on their Album ‘Hits Right Up Your Street’ in 1981.

So, ‘Shades of the Shads...Vol.3’ is a tribute to Hank Marvin and the Shadows for the wonderful music they created and to be able to record these songs with my own touch...

Theme From Giant (O'Neill Fernandes)

This is my 40th Album which is a double Album and Side A is ‘Shades of The Shads...Vol.3’ and Side B is ‘Let’s Dance...Vol.6’.

This Album is a composition of cover songs from 1957 to 1999, across the genres and through the generations.

‘Swing the Mood’ is a song by British pop music act ‘Jive Bunny’ and the Mastermixers, released as the first single from their debut album, ‘Jive Bunny: The Album’ (1989).

‘At the Hop’ is a 1957 pop song written by Artie Singer, John Medora, and David White and originally released by ‘Danny & The Juniors’.

‘Yummy Yummy Yummy’ is a song first recorded by Ohio Express in 1968. 

‘Peppermint Twist’ is a song written by Joey Dee and Henry Glover, recorded, and released by Joey Dee and the Starliters in 1961.

‘Baby Come Back’ is a song by English band the Equals from their 1967 album Unequalled Equals and written by Eddy Grant. Pato Banton and London Boys recorded cover versions of the song that were hits. 

‘Twist and Shout’ is a 1961 song written by Phil Medley and Bert Berns. The song has been covered by several artists including Chaka Demus & Pliers (1992), who experienced chart success with their versions.

‘In the Summertime’, released in 1970, is the debut single by British rock band ‘Mungo Jerry’. 

‘Coco Jamboo’ is a song by German band Mr. President. It was released on 29 March 1996 as the lead single from their second studio album, ‘We See the Same Sun’ (1996).

‘Keep It Comin' Love’ is a song by KC and the Sunshine Band, released as a single in 1977 and was released on their 1976 album, ‘Part 3’.

‘Right Back Where We Started From’ is a song which was first recorded in the middle of 1975 by Maxine Nightingale for whom it was an international hit.

‘Thank God I'm A Country Boy’ is a song recorded by American singer/songwriter John Denver. The song was originally included on Denver's 1974 album ‘Back Home Again’. 

‘Boot Scootin' Boogie’ is a cover song recorded by Brooks & Dunn recorded a cover version, which was included on their 1991 debut album, ‘Brand New Man’. 

‘Dancin' Cowboys’ is a song by ‘The Bellamy Brothers’ and was released in May 1980 as the second single from the album ‘You Can Get Crazy’.

“Bem Bem Maria’ is a song by the Gipsy Kings and was released in 1989.

‘Summer Holiday’ is a 1963 screenplay written by Peter Myers and Ronald Cass who also wrote most of the song numbers and lyrics.

‘Bring It All Back’ is the debut single of British pop group S Club 7. 

‘Jingle Jangle’ is a song by ‘The Archies’ and produced by Jeff Barry. The single reached number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 27 on the U.S. Easy Listening chart in 1969.

‘Don't Bring Me Down’ is the ninth and final track on the English rock band the Electric Light Orchestra's 1979 album Discovery. It is their highest charting hit in the United States to date.

‘Marie, Marie’ by Shakin' Stevens was written by Dave Alvin and was first released by ‘The Blasters’ in 1980. Shakin' Stevens also released a cover version in 1980.

‘Jeepster’ is a song by English rock act T. Rex and was released on 5 November 1971 as a single from the group's sixth studio album (and second as T. Rex) ‘Electric Warrior’.

‘I'm So Excited’ is a song by American vocal group the Pointer Sisters. Jointly written and composed by the sisters in collaboration with Trevor Lawrence, it was originally released in September 1982, reaching number 30 on the US Billboard Hot 100. 

So, I really enjoyed the challenge in doing this dance album in which I continue to learn and improve my musical skills and knowledge. I’m sure you will enjoy listening and dancing to this album as I have enjoyed recording and producing it...

This is Mother’s Love...Vol.3 which continues the playlist from the first Album Mother’s Love released on 7 July 2021 and the second released on 15 April 2022.

The name Mother’s Love comes from the selection of songs that I use to have on my personal playlist. My Mum (Pam) and late Mother-in-law (Hilda) loved the selection of music and was their favourite. So, this album is dedicated to them and all the Mums around the globe who play a very special part in our lives...

I have focused on artists like James Last, Bert Kampfret, Billy Vaughn, Mike Oldfield, The Ventures, Marshall & Alexander, Boots Randolph, George Dann, Trini Lopez, Alberto Dominguez, Hansi Hintersee, Roger Miller, Cliff Richard, Chris Woltf, Michael Legrand, Charles Trenet and Orquesta Mondragón who are all brilliant musicians and producers. 

When you do a cover version, you lay bare the artistry of the song and I’m very impressed with the brilliance of the musicality.  The music is of an era long forgotten and I’m keen to resurrect the virtuosity of this musical harmony.  I never ever dreamed that I would attempt such complex songs, but having crossed that threshold before, I have planned a few albums down the track...so watch this space...

If you have followed my music, you will realise that I cover many Genres and Artists and this Album is a major deviation, but I’m sure listeners will enjoy the artistry and musical harmony of these songs.
  
I’m sure you will enjoy listening and dancing to this album as I have enjoyed the challenges in recording and producing it…
