I discovered Frankie Knuckles through his music, one that was, gentle, lush with a subdued, understated power that rocked many a dancefloor.
I had the privilege to hear him once in the heyday of his legendary residency at Sound Factory Bar in New York. I was submerged, sonically and emotionally by the beauty of the music I heard that night. I remember very clearly saying to myself that this would be impossible to ever equal.
That was 20 years ago, and I never got to hear this magic combination again.

I got to meet Frankie a few times, and he was always like his music, gentle, humble,   yet naturally imposing

I've put together here some of my favorite music from him. So that his legacy can keep on inspiring other people.

Rest in peace, Frankie, may your music keep on moving people eternally

My Tribute To Frankie Knuckles

Mark XTC’s been something of a drum & bass kingpin in the North West of England for some time now. Currently lecturing in DJ and Audio Technology at Manchester College he’s been sharing his personal love of music for many years, through several different outlets. In the 80s he won the North West DMC DJ Championships and devoted his life to DJing and producing music with groups like The Mix Factory and Da Intalex (a duo with a certain man called Marcus who’d later go on to adopt the name and coin the Soul:ution label). 

After those projects disbanded Mark signed to Ray Keith’s Dread Recordings/Penny Black Records empire releasing music such as the <em>Come On EP</em> which in turn brought him to the attention of Dillinja and his Valve label with whom he’d go on to release tracks like ‘Keyz’ and ‘Roll Dem Beatz’. Over the years Mark’s also released on numerous other labels and as a result has played all across the world but he’s making the journey from his native Manchester alongside the Hit & Run crew to play Room Three next Friday. 

With a lineage as colourful as Mark XTC’s is was always going to be inevitable that we’d ask him to put together a mixtape but we’re even happier he chose to select 90 minutes worth of his favourite jungle records.

We've got Ben Degg AKA PushButtons on board for our third release. We think its a large slab of quality Deep Tech House. PushButtons has been involved in music from early age, playing drums in various bands. But then at the age of 13, after sneaking into a warehouse party, he was hooked on house music!    Since 2001 with 10years of being absorbed by the enjoyment of playing and creating music he has a strong sense of personal style which shows through in the music he both produces and plays. His music production focuses on a sexy, groovy and organic deep house feel which he delivers from the UK.
