With warmer weather promised this weekend (*insert sips tea emoji here), there couldn’t be better timing for a brand new garage anthem to hit our sun-starved ears. Having worked together previously, Wolverhampton’s TRC teams up with south London’s P Money on the bubbly bubbly Dun Know, taken from TRC’s forthcoming EP, SHUBBZ. "I've always rated P,” TRC tells i-D. “We've been working on different music for a few years now, but I've always had the idea of doing a garage song with him. When I sent him the beat, within a couple days he hit me back with the idea, saying he'd been working on something on that kind of vibe – I definitely caught him at the right time."

Says P: "I wanted this track for my upcoming album Live & Direct but he wouldn't let me have it (laughs). I've worked with TRC before and I think I took the last one, so I guess that's fair. Right now it's about vibes and this track is exactly that."

As well as this collab with P Money, TRC also worked with Princess Nyah, Olivia Louise and Kai Ryder on the forthcoming SHUBBZ, out Friday 12 August. "The EP boasts a lot of energy and a different vibe for everyone,” he says. “I wanted to catch the summer party atmosphere and rave element.”

Intro

Starting the new year off by hitting the ground running, 4i returns with his first record of 2018 that will long resonate with the masses and greatly inspire the common man. Titled “T.O.P”, it highlights the stress and struggles that all creatives experience on the way to achieving their dreams. 

According to 4i the record is the result of the building frustrations that come with being an artist on the come up: “From relationships and music to my day job, and everything else in-between, ’T.O.P’ is all about reflecting, learning and continuing to move forward in the right direction.

“Although the concept can sound quite pensive, DA’s upbeat instrumental and the catchy chorus brings a nice light-hearted and fun element to the song,” he continues. “I feel ’T.O.P’ is the perfect way to bring my fans up to date with me and it’s a song we can all find our own truth in.”

Busy working on new material, 4i is excited about what the new year will bring. Still flying high off of the reception he received for his Dreamt But Never Slept EP, that was just the beginning. What he has in store for 2018 is leaps and bounds beyond what the aforementioned critically-acclaimed project achieved.

Straight off the back of 4i’s previous release T.O.P 4i has not wasted anytime sharing his next single titled Rainbow Child. 

“Rainbow Child was inspired by my nieces, watching them live there lives so effortlessly without worry, constantly radiating happiness and love made me think of how much we can learn from them especially when it comes to our own happiness. Deep down behind all are layers of social conditioning i believe we are all just children; explorers painters dancers and musicians waiting to be given the chance to express ourselves freely without judgment or scrutiny.”  

Rainbow Child will not only be a household anthem for parents and music lovers as the mix between soulful hiphop and drum n bass create the perfect combination to rock festivals too. Its fun melodically euphoric and easy to catch.
