The original is by Tom Waits and quite new to me. Tom Waits for no man. I'm still finding mixing hard but I like some of the sounds on this one; initially recorded very quietly - little more than a whisper - so the volume is boosted a lot and that's why the computer is so loud clicking away in the background. I like the rough vibe of it and tried to better it but just came out with rubbish.

Chocolate Jesus

Happy enough with the vocals. The usual problems with recording - lots of takes, lots of mistakes, can't get the levels right, all over the place and I lose the spontaneity of my first take. Audacity came to the rescue in the end as is often the case. It's a nice program, much under-rated, and free. I don't know what I'm doing with FX in Reaper but in Audacity the FX tools are very easy.
