The Oxidized compilation series is a charity project we have been working on since the inception of The Rust Music, with Oxidized, Vol. 1 being our very first label release in February 2017. At the end of each year we select a new charity, aid organization, or non-profit, to which all proceeds from the series are donated. In the past we have donated to organizations focusing on natural disaster aid, environmental restoration and preservation, as well as civil/human rights advocates and COVID-19 relief efforts on local, national, and international levels. 2022 proceeds from the Oxidized series will be donated to support women’s rights to healthcare and access to abortion, with this year’s donation to be determined towards the end of 2023.

Across the last 6 years, we've recurrently tapped into a network of both our roster talent and our close associates across the experimental electronic music spectrum to craft our first two Oxidized compilations. Now, for the final entry in the Oxidized Trilogy, we've brought together 32 producers, songwriters, and musicians from the US, the UK, Germany and Georgia to craft 28 tracks that cross through a medley of motifs in Hip-Hop, Drum & Bass, Downtempo, and more. With a penchant for head-nod sensibilities and palatable grooves, the Colorado-based producer Kuhlin has gradually developed his sound and style in a particular flavorful lane. Taking inspiration from golden-era hip-hop and contemporary production and synthesis, he's a beatsmith with a pronounced songwriting attitude that sinks its teeth with ease. Ahead of the release of his Downhill EP, The Rust is excited to premiere the titular track, "Break Machine Broken".

With a tight grouping of pulsing melodies, shuffled percussion, and a pocketed acid bass line, "Beat Machine Broken" carries itself across a swung arrangement, with subtle sound design and glitch flairs spotting the track's runtime. Silent Orbservers (CharlestheFirst Remix)

My interpretation of @jongomm 's beautiful 'Passionflower'. The goal was to spin the percussive guitar sounds into another soothing downtempo electronic ballad, so I kept the synth, bass, and percussive work VERY minimal - I wanted all the details to shine on this one. Enjoy :)
