I have been working on a cover of Damian Marley's song Patience today (18/10/2014). This is just a export of what it could potentially sound like.  Please note this hasn't had much mastering or EQ tweaking applied to it as it is only a rough draft.  
This is one of my all time favourite Damian Marley songs.
Everything you heard was made on Logic 10. I didn't sample anything from the original in this cut.

This is a spoken word / poem I wrote about music called 'Deeper Connection'.  I thought I would challenge myself in producing something in a day and here's the result. Never done spoken word before and this is only a draft but I am happy with the result so far to share :)  Words are below:

When you hear a song, a song that you know and love,
Chances are that artist may not be around no more.
Band could of broken up, gone their separate ways,
Or bitten the dust as their family prays.

But you still hear that song regardless the situation,
Still feels the same, no abbreviation. 
You could be walking through the city, pumping your gas,
Grocery shopping doing mundane tasks.
Taxes are coming up, rent is overdue,
Your girl’s birthdays tomorrow and you couldn’t book a table at that nice little Italian restaurant on the corner she likes…

But, without fail that distinct group of sounds makes its way in your ear to have a party.
It's that song.
It hits you right there.

God, does it make you fill with joy,
Makes you wanna laugh, smile, get up to dance,
It's that thing that makes you stop and forget.
Paralysed in the moment.
It can take you back to that special place, a place so vivid,
But it doesn’t last long as it’s only a visit.
Being one with the moment, as the music takes control,
Incomprehensible thought powering the soul.
In this brief instant, a brisk present, imperative flash of existence,
Everything just feels right in place.

Cus it’s that song…

The fact that song could have been 50 years old blows my mind,
How the past becomes my present, as it’s redesigned,
How memories are poked, emotions are skewed,
All through sound, our energy is renewed.
Music is a beautiful thing, the connection is deep,
We use it to party, we use it to sleep,
We use it to heel, we use it to think,
It brings people together who normally wouldn’t speak.
Some use it for tangible gain, some use it just to get through some pain.

Music is a beautiful thing.  Don’t take it for granted.  

I’m speaking to you no matter the time of day,
Whether the sun still shinning or it’s starting to get late.
I hope this message speaks to you freely as my vision is put across,
However you should take this as your own, whatever the cost.
