This song came from the story in the Bible where Jacob wrestles with an angel and won't let go until he is blessed.  The chorus will have a very MuteMath feel, while the verses have a more open narrative feel.

This is the most energetic and anthematic song on the record.  It is great to lead off a set to.  Think "You Are Good" by Bethel.

Lift Up A Shout Of Praise Scratch

This is at the same time the most somber and the most hopeful track on the album.  It is a song of faith and breakthrough with great chord voicings.

This song has a fantastic groove to it with a tasty rap at the end.

03 Nothing Can Separate Us

As far as musical style goes, I need to tell you about my background. I started as a songwriter, a song-crafter. I grew up listening to people like James Taylor, Bread, the Doobie Brothers (which was odd because that was a bit dated for someone my age)....amazing writers but also amazing harmonies. But, I also began listening to some music with some funk....some soul to it. Hip-hop, R & B, the Blues- they all put words together in such unique ways. I loved the rhythm; I loved the rhyme; I loved the beats. I am still trying to put it all together.

For the past 2 1/2 years I've been writing a worship album that I think is going to be the most important music I release in my entire life.  It has been a journey both musically and spiritually.  I love it how the Lord has done nothing short of show me his heart and lead the way.   It's an artful craft of all my favorite things wrapped in tested, singable, and congregationally-driven Holy Spirit worship that helps people express their hearts to the Father...Southern funk, R&B soul, gospel-filled praise, modern hyms, and a few raps tastefully peppered in there.

I love the inspiration that being rooted and grounded in love and local fellowship has graciously given me.  I have been blessed to have people in my life that challenge me creatively. I have also been blessed to have some companies believe in my music and sponsor me as an artist. Those include Larrivee Guitars (acoustic), Epiphone Elitist (electric), LR Baggs (pickups), and S.I.T. Strings. I still love making music....crafting songs, arranging, performing. I want to be making music forever.
