Sometimes getting to someone that calls out to you is better with some wheels to push for the journey. Keep the windows up to sweat out the toxins if you gotta. Paintbrush is an ode to the deepest plutonic connections. It is a love in a league of its own. This one vibes out like a time capsule, just a moonlit trot unearthing some nostalgia for no real reason at all. Lots of contributors on this cut really brought the goodness, especially in the hooks. Cherish the real ones.

Something special happens. Our collective came up on Nintendos and SEGAs. We were checking Swillburger pretty hard during this lp for business and pleasure. Next time you wanna squash something with a homies pull up two chairs and go coop mode. For the record Maniac Mansion is a masterpiece.

Video Games

Last song written for the record. Really wanted to get Moses Rockwell on a song and had this loop kicking around since the beginning of the All Good sessions. Sent it to him one evening and it just happened. The idea was to write a little tribute to each of our experiences of living on Alexander. Honored to have my bro on the the first land hope it isn’t the last one. Eugene Magnetic has a way about them.

Alexander

A hook with a double negative, always wanted one and now what else to want? Low is the transition out of the darker jams on the record. Feels like the final consideration before crawling out of a hole to escape the false safety of familiarity. Low came together pretty quick overall and started as a little jam session on the MPC 1000. Nothing is forever, Forever is nothing…kinda.

I love living in the city. Next time you see me tell me your favorite thing about the city you hail from. Rochester is magic and it pretty much wrote the song for me, I just went boggle with the ideas. Absolutely love Alexandra’s contributions on STII. Many spliffs were consumed during the curation of this one and I feel like it comes through in tone and how scruffy the vocals sound.

VHSes is for the love of all things grimy and lofi. Another song for the lonely souls that find a way to be the best spending time with themselves. Alexandra Wendt is all over this lp and really showed up on this one as the dust cleared. With Chris and I coming from a deep background in hardcore punk, it really cast its influence most on VHSes… I think. A live show might even warrant a reckless stage dive. Head walk for your life. Let the ashes revive.

Woah! This record is a smasher. Channeled the true hit king, Ichiro, right here. YOP Suzy one of two guest verses on the lp. He is a wonderful human and a light that illuminates like no other. Check out the man and all of his creations. YOP Suzy is the name in case you missed it one time. Not even really sure what this one is truly about anymore. A tale of adventure after severing a bind on your spirit. Forever sophomoric! The madness is a little easier to manage framed as an R Rated cult hit. I’m so grateful to be on the other side of this one.

Sheets of Rain

Driving solo is an ancient and sacred tradition. The first few lines of this one shined off the slick 490 W turn as I raced to be at a session on time. The best part about stepping out of the car unaccompanied is you make the choice about where to stop and what to get into. 2nd verse is a special creation and really send the trip into space. In the lower moments hop out of the whip like its the Mystery Machine and get yourself a snack. For hottest of days with the windows down.

What’s your favorite store from the mall that is no longer with us? Through and through this song is for all the good people of planet earth that have found themselves zombie shuffling to the mall mixes and food court chillin’. We took some serious care with crafting the hook on this jam. Big ups to John Cannon for steering the shopping cart on here. A song that came a longer way than starting at Macy’s.
