Like most of the best things in life Stress Records started out as a bit of fun back in 1990. Our parent company DMC were publishing Mixmag. The editor at the time was Dave Seaman, he of trance-fueled deck heroics rather than tache fueled goal keeping feat, aided and abetted by Nick Gordon Brown. DMC Pioneered the whole DJ producer thing, so commonplace now it's hard to recall how novel it was then, not to mention how frowned upon it was by the tired old rock industry's would be cognoscenti.

DMC had recording studs with DJs wandering in and out at with boxes of full turns and heads filled with ideas, which as Brown would paraphrase Bob Dyland, "were driving them insane." Teamed up with the right studio bods with requisite dance floor savvy, that insanity was channelled into a slew of rather good house records. The corporate record companies being the lumbering behemoths that they are, some of said tunes were failing to find a deserved home. So Seaman and Teasdale created a label to give them one, a deserved home that is. Stress was born.

So there it was, the good ship Stress, run by clubbers and DJs for clubbers and DJs. Looknig at the catalogue of 100+ releases it's clear that this was a damn good label. A decade defining one.

This was apparently the best selling live Fantazia mixtape in 1993 so I was told....just info and certainly not a big up..... and it featured my good friend Food Junkie on the other side as far as I remember. Absolutely love the recording with all the crowd noise, it really captures the atmosphere.... Amazing memories! ...Sounds of the Joker, sounds of the Scallywag :)........reach for the sky!!!
