I performed this excerpt from Isengard by using completely software-based sounds from East West Play Gold Symphonic Orchestra (metal drum, snare and tuba). I was running it through Mainstage and recorded it on Audacity via Soundflower.

The Alesis QSR can make what I think is a very nice recreation of the lead sound in ELPowell's "Touch and Go." I created a mix with the "Touch&Go" and "EmersonSaw" presets. I played the intro live, and made it through most of the notes.  Recorded  on Mainstage. Played with my Yamaha digital piano controller.

Name that Van Halen Intro

Tony Banks of Genesis comes up with some of the nicest and most interesting chord progressions in rock music. This is me playing the intro to "Alien Afternoon" from the Genesis "Calling All Stations" album, the one album without Peter Gabriel or Phil Collins on vocals. I played this section using the Arturia CS-80V2 soft synth in Cubase, using the KU_BriteSyn patch. I hope you enjoy it!
