Following his incredible debut album ‘Talisman’, Whiney has stepped back into the lab to cook all manner of big, beefy dancefloor beasts. The ‘Waystone’ LP boasts his most widespread set of influences yet with drum & bass fusions of trip-hop, grime, UK hip hop and ambient across 14 outstanding tracks.

Album highlights include the tumbling jungle rumbler ‘The Capital’ that scatters down with snappy amens in a perfect storm. Plus the unmissable ‘Triple Duppy Demon’; a menacing tribal stalker rearing its head in a display of raw beats and bars from Manchester’s own Levelz crew member Truthos Mufasa, alongside a production pairing with Hugh Hardie.

‘Waystone’ also sees the triumphant return of the dream-team-supreme! Hospital’s wordsmith Inja joins forces with Whiney on ‘Mission’. This certified heater is a grisly tirade of dancefloor chaos, a worthy successor to fan favourites ‘Flashlight’ and ‘She Just Wanna Dance’.

Of course Whiney’s second long-player is also packed with showstopping solo productions such as ‘Dismissed’, ‘Slingshot’ and half-time triphop switch up ‘Darkest Night’

Hospital Records proudly presents the debut long-player from the illusive and ingenious Mitekiss. Flirting with an array of drum & bass styles, ‘Crate Six Seven’ inhabits the deeper realms of liquid-jazz, soul and ambient jungle across 14 tracks.

The album’s title track encapsulates the essence of Mitekiss’ well-known style with soothing tones and a hypnotic percussion guiding the track, along with the enchanting ‘Hutan’, with its silky and delicately soft sonics.

Taking a darker turn is the murky apparition, ‘Lenz’ that’s fuelled by the ominous, supernatural vocals of Mr Porter. Embracing the roots of its craft, ‘Human’ takes the form of a vintage amen weapon. It’s dancefloor friendly but doesn’t shy away from the oldskool atmospherics that elevate it to future-classic status.

Mitekiss may have his trademark deep-liquid flair but ‘Crate Six Seven’ cements his versatility with stunning vocal tracks ‘Another Sad Song’ and ‘Viewpoint’, through to the curiously creative ‘Straw Man’. Collaborations with the likes of Emer Dineen, Mr Porter, Naibu and Emeliene Chouadossi highlight the breadth of styles within Mitekiss’s repertoire. With exciting live performance prospects on the horizon this production paragon has exceeded all expectation with what is undoubtedly one of the finest D+B albums of the year.

Mitekiss - Lenz (feat. Mr Porter)

Lowriderz, fresh out of the jungle war comes another heavy slab of unfiltered breakbeat goodness in the form of the ‘Underwater EP’. Featuring the vocals of Russian Dancehall and Reggae MC, Steppa Style, this is another wicked release from the Serial Killaz offshoot label Street Life which once again shows how dedicated these guys are to authenticity.

Lead vocals from the one like Steppa Style kickstart proceedings straight away featuring one hell of a catchy hook that will have crowds chanting for days. ‘Underwater’ is a direct onslaught on the senses with a ton of mashed up breakbeats, dub effects and a short ranged lead bassline that bangs.

‘Eva Load’ delivers some real lyrically education. A great feel good message, excellent double timing all wrapped up in glossy production that this dynamic duo are well known for.

Reminiscent of ‘94 yet as upfront as you could possibly wish for. Street Life and its artists really are a winning combination for die hard junglists of all ages.
