Setting the wheels in motion for his forthcoming “Under Another Sky LP”, Cern opens his 2nd studio album with three teaser tracks to wet your beak. An artist who never shies from experimentation, whilst consistently striking a chord deep down, Cern offers a sample of the damage, reflection and reconstruction that lies ahead.

Starting things off with a track exclusively available for this album sampler, “Tiamat” loosens the reigns and unleashes a storm that matures below the surface, retaining composure and clout all the while. Named after an ancient goddess that embodied primordial chaos, Cern engineers a perfect set opener with precision; low ends striking right at the chest.

As the dust clears in the aftermath of bedlam, the tempo relaxes somewhat as we are welcomed by “What We Bring Upon Ourselves”. The orchestral introduction is profound, yet cautious and thought-provoking. Delicate strings and serene chords evoke a warm glow, enveloping vinyl crackles in a truly sublime musical interlude.

This leads smoothly into the superbly layered “Conway”, which picks the pace back up, but teasing, in playful, almost tormenting fashion. Initially subtle and ultra-stripped, it quickly gathers momentum with menacing drive. Breathtaking amen flashes emerge sporadically, before retreating to minimal flickers; masterfully controlling the dance.

Skankandbass is dedicated towards the official promotion of record labels and artists in the world of drum & bass music. Since inception in 2010, Skankandbass has unearthed some of the freshest talents in the scene and has opened many doors for unsigned artists. Now, a few years in to the game, Skankandbass decides to take on the role of a record label to put together a series of free download singles which aims to further help spread the work of the best unsigned, newcomer artists who deserve more recognition.

Ill Truth are no strangers to Skankandbass, having been featured numerous times since their first release on Lockdown Recordings in late 2016.  Despite the relatively short time since their debut, the Bristol natives have made a rapid rise through the ranks.  With appearances on Shogun, Symmetry, Fokuz and Lifestyle under their belt, last year they impressively curated their own VA album showcasing newcomer talent. Originally one half of Basic Unit, Ben is no stranger to the world of drum and bass - having previous releases on Moving Shadow, Frontline, Flex and their own label – Deepest Cut.

After a 10 year hiatus following a studio fire in Leeds, and a relocation to London, Ben is back to writing drum and bass, now solo under this new moniker.

These five tracks mark the start of plenty more to come from Natural Forces. From the deep, snarling bass of Bloodline to the stepping drum work on the title track, Sub Rosa, this EP is a real statement of intent.

Hoofbeats Music joined forces with the slovakian one and only 
force to be truly reckoned with - just twenty-two-year-old 
Piešťany native Changing Faces! Ema became a part of the HB 
Music crew last year and this is her first release exclusive to 
the label. The newest release which is comprised of two tracks 
marks a rather significant shift in musical characterization of 
Hoofbeats Music so far, from hard-hitting and sometimes downright 
evil and grim neurofunk tunes to more melodic, soulful ones. Both 
new tracks have been mastered by the mighty Break himself which is 
an honour in and of itself, with Monochrome, one spectacular half 
of the release, being a charming liquidized asset with soul 
caressing vocals and Hypnotic, the second and none the less 
spectacular half, bringing about the mainstream echoes of 
Dimension, Ema's biggest inspiration. The release clearly 
showcases Ema's versatility and pure talent as well as courage of 
Hoofbeats Music to abandon safe old neurofunk roads in search of 
the new as yet unexplored ones. Ema may be young but she has been 
a staple in the drum and bass community for a few years now and 
the overall quality of her newest release is a testament to this 
very fact.

It’s packed with 25 brand new and exclusive tracks from Hospital and Med School surgeons alongside some very special guest features, all carefully selected as the future drum & bass anthems of 2019.
