It is a very special mix featuring unreleased original pieces by Berkay which we are very proud to share with the world.

One night, as the magistrate traveled through the mountains (again on a trip to gain favor for his son’s future marriage), he saw an old man sitting alone in the moonlight. The old man ignored the passing horses and carriages, the silk brocade and the government seal, and simply continued reading a large book in his lap, placidly fingering a bag of red string beside him. The old man’s indifference infuriated Magistrate Tiger and he ordered the carriage to stop. However, even the halting noises did not make the old man look up. Finally, Magistrate Tiger exited his carriage and went to the old man, still engrossed in his book. “Do you not bow to your magistrate?!” he roared. The old man continued to read. “What are you reading that is so important?” the magistrate demanded, and looked at the pages of the book. It was full of scribbles and scrawls that were not of any language the magistrate knew of. “Why, it’s just nonsense written in there!” “Nonsense!” the old man said, finally looking up. “You fool. This is the Book of Fortune. It holds all the knowledge of the world — the past, present, and future”. Berkay Mete takes a deep breath and blows all the miracles of this holy world. This is his first offering for Shango Records. These two tracks can give you a lift to the heavens. Ahau, BIGz and Doga Erbek hold the keys in the gardens of Earthly Delights

I’ve just finished an edit of a Turkish Folk track and decided to give it away as a Free Download for my DJ friends :) 

  The original track is made by a post modern folk band called ‘’Hariçten Gazelciler’’ which was around in early 2000s.   

The name of the singer of the band is ‘’Ömür Kılıçaslan’’ and he is known as the inventor of the instrument called ‘’Çağlama’’.   Çağlama is a revolutionary instrument which has the specs of both guitar and bağlama. So it gives the possibility to play Turkish scales with a guitar like instrument. 

  Unfortunately, Ömür passed away in 2014. But, his legacy lives with his instrument and his songs. 

I wanted to pay a tribute to him and his band with this edit. Hope you enjoy…
