Energetic, innovative and versatile, are just a few words you can choose to describe the prolific sound Lis Sarroca has been propelling in recent years, continuously drawing influences from her half Spanish, half Mexican background, and sprinkling in flavours from her current city of residence, Barcelona. 

Whether tuning in to one of her genre melding DJ sets around Europe and beyond, her storytelling online mixes for the likes of HÖR Berlin and Rinse FM, or whether you find yourself absorbing her tight and emphatic productions - you will undoubtedly feel the Sarroca effect.

Labels that have succumbed to the sounds of the Barcelona based artist of late are Hot Haus Recs, the famous Mobilee Records, and Aterral, to name just a few from her catalogue. During the forthcoming period Lis has signed and sealed releases with Simplexia, and simultaneously a carefully created six track vinyl package on the fantastic Shall Not Fade imprint entitled 'No Wait’, in which Sarroca mixes classy 90s house rhythms with standout melodies.. Despite dabbling in variations on dance music, stripped back disco to punchy tech house rhythms, this record is accomplished and consistent, coming together to deliver memories of sweaty summer club nights.

2021 will also mark the inauguration of Lis’ own label Maai Records, as she continues to craft the foundations of whatis set to become an exciting brand for slick and forward thinking club orientated sounds from herself, friends, and fellow artists, all of whom are accelerating in the same direction as herself. Adding to this year Chiwax/Rawax is
welcoming Lis with a 4 track record, coming in September.

Currently Alfredo has a record label @white-deer-record, in which he works in company of his friend Miguel aka The AM to promote and release deep house music.      

Alfredo Ávila's work as a producer can be found on labels like Delve Deeper, Lisztomania, House Cookin, among others. He has also been a DJ on multiple events in his country for several years.

For Waxcast lucky number 13 we welcome Luke Bestrom to Bare Bones Wax. Originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan, Luke started his career in music as a major supporter and listener. With most of the early influences coming from the church, there was an early interest in rhythm and melody. 

Fast forward to recent years, Luke has started focusing his efforts in showcasing and sharing music that stands out from the status quo. With tastes spanning across the musical spectrum, his notoriety was garnered through not only his relentless support of artists, but also through his musical taste. With a heavy influence on the management and direction of his part-owned radio station, The Underground Sessions, Luke has found a niche in the music industry behind the scenes. Not known by everyone, just the right ones.

When looking back on my biggest influences musically, there is a consistent trend of the artists and label owners who I've learned the most from. Ludovico Schilling, or better known as Schilling, is one of those people for me. While running his label, Apparel Tronic, Ludo has been a Mecca of music discovery for me. His curation is second to none, which is why I was so happy that he was down to make a mix for the series. 

This mix is a really special one for me, as it showcases the difference between a DJ, and a digger. Whether its pushing boundaries with his own productions (KILLER btw), or giving light to the artists who are doing the same, this mix is one that I'm very proud to have on my page.
