Rising star Cody Currie’s first solo EP on House of Disco Records is here at last and it does not disappoint!

This one is a 5-tracks gathering : Carlo, lelù, Tom Jarmey and MarBlu, M.ono hits back on DLG and Le Hutin comes as the local boy.

This 5 tracks drive you amidst winterly feeling. Not saying cold, it is more something very cosy. 

Introducing on the organ-roller 'Niji No Hashikake' is delivered with tons of love and layers-growing-crazy by M.ono. Second named 'Jazz A Night', some carribean jazz bar piano inspiration and a large dose of evolution towards garageable beats from Le Hutin. Third is Carlo man hitting with a smooth groover well balanced between deepness and organic presence coated in charming vocals, 'starting tomorrow'. Forth comes lelù from outer-atlantic for a 90's beat alike, 'Pimp Talk' is just a fine exploration of house referring to hip-hop influences. Last comes Tom Jarmey with a very personnal softener, featuring MarBlu, where vocals and multiple key layers madly melt into each others.

As of late, France has been a hotbed for up-and-coming house and disco labels, releasing some of the grooviest tunes pumped out on dance floors across the globe. Newly minted Groovence is no exception to this, bringing forth their their first label release with a various artists compilation that will leave your head buzzing, heart melting and feet stomping. VA releases can be hit or miss but « The Cosmic Groove EP' lives up to its name with funky, spaced out cuts that will have you calling Houston and assuring them that there is no problem.

Based out of Paris, the vinyl-only label has been releasing an 'invite' series of hour long sets to showcase their tastes, with guests as Luvless ( Rose Records, Sleazy Beats recordings), Ethyène ( Moonrise Hill Material, Kolour LTD), Tour Maubourg (Pont-Neuf Records) and Twice Movement (Groovence) ; each sporting their own quality tracks on the label premiere.

It’s that time of the year again: Our annual frenzy of collaborations from another year worth of Heist releases, wrapped together in 1 package: ’The Round Up’. You’ll hear Crackazat taking on the breezy horns of Alma Negra’s standout track Dakar Disco and Dam Swindle’s re-interpretation of Teleseen’s Dekalb full of live drums, wonky arps, and raw synth stabs and other classy reworks by Detroit legends Scan 7, Kassian, Nebraska and Pitto to complete the package.

For those unaware of the concept of the Round Up: Each artist that released on Heist in 2020 gets to remix another artist from that year. Combinations are made by luck of the draw and this has been a key moment in the Heist calendar for the past 7 years. We’ve had combinations like a Max Graef remix of Dam Swindle’s ‘The Break Up’ and Fouk’s remix of Nachtbraker’s big hit ‘Hamdi’ and countless others in the past years. 

This time, there’s a nice balance between label regulars (Dam Swindle, Alma Negra, Nebraska, Kassian & Pitto) and some new faces (Scan 7, Crackazat, Teleseen). The sonic universe of Heist seems to be a perfect fit with these 3 new names and given the profile of these artists, it’ll be no surprise that this 7th installment of the Round Up is a must have. 

There’s the feel-good festival vibes on Crackazat remix of ‘Dakar Disco’ and the rolling tech goodness of Kassian’s remix of Nebraska’s bonkers track ‘Dip & Flip’. Pitto takes an excursion into deep dubbed out house with his remix of Kassian’s ‘8th Movement’ and Nebraska goes for a UK house meets US garage meets Christopher Walken’s cowbell solo on his remix of ‘Move out the way’ by Dam Swindle. The label heads take on their house stabs with their atmospheric and pumping remix of Teleseen’s ‘Dekalb’, while the latter goes for a worldly approach with his remix of ‘Discko’ by Pitto. There’s also the superb Detroit house approach from Scan 7 with their remix of Crackazat’s ‘Class one’, and we hear Alma Negra adding some vocal and synth layers to the gospel house of Scan 7’s killer track ‘All for me’. Getting dizzy with all these combinations? Don’t worry. Just let the music guide you through these winter months and start your own dance party with these 8 seminal reworks from our Heist catalog.
