"I made my way through the rave scene...
Growing up in Zürich's countryside, caught between Hip Hop and Techno, doing Graffiti on trains and playing Trance, in the early 90ies.
At 15 I started to DJ in our youth centre on two Technics MKII. I always watched „MTV Saturday Night Dance“, where the likes of SL2, Altern8 and The Prodigy were featured. When I heard DJ Hype doing the closure set at Energy 94 at Hallenstadion it just was the perfect mixture of all my musical tastes, the answer to all questions.
Records were hard to find then, so mainly Happy Breakbeat and Hardcore filled the box. As an up & coming DJ of the second rave generation I got to be a resident at the White Wolf Raves from 96 to 98 and lots of other events.
Around 98 I met Led Tampi, one of the titans of Switzerland's Jungle DJs and then became a part of Zürich’s legendary „Metropolitan Bass Scientists“ alongside Mad B, Crazee Bo, Max S, Led Tampi and MC Riddimflrt.
MBS were the counterpart to Switzerland’s biggest and most influential crew, United Tribes from Berne.  Sadly, both crews dissolved around the millennium but a new collective came out of it, The Engine with Lockee, Fine Style, Led Tampi, and MC Fight. Their events at Bierhübeli in Berne in the early 2000s are legendary. Drum & Bass really had its prime back then. There were many other crews like Score Inc, Blackout & RG Promotions, Mute, Tension State, FMI, JUR… and so many others!
After playing at basically all Swiss venues and raves of the era and in Czech Republic regularly, even at „Let it Roll 10“ I stepped back to focus on my job career.  At this time technology for DJs changed from analog to digital, but I decided not to go on with CDJ’s and refused to make this step. I've never stopped listening to D&B, once it’s in your DNA, you can’t stop listening to it, as you probably know.... I am super happy and honored to do this mix for Berne Bass Podcast so that I can share favorites of my vinyl collection and have a few words.
Drum & Bass definitely has stood the test of time, although not a lot of people believed in its future back in the days... So BIG UP all of the massive and youth, new breed and crews that runs our beautiful culture today. Let D&B thrive on forever!"

Bern Bass Podcast 101 - DJ Impact (Swiss National Day Special 2023)

Hailing from West London, DJ NAY is an up-and-coming artist with a unique sound and a distinctive mixing style that has gained the attention of DNB fans around the world. Specialising in Ragga Drum and Bass / Jungle and also has a passion for mixing House and Garage. Since entering the scene in 2022 DJ NAY has played at some of the best venues across the UK and has also made appearances on various well known radio stations such as Reprezent, Kool FM, Flex FM and Life FM.
As well As DJing and Producing DJ NAY manages a notorious record label called Dub Shotta, which has become very successful in the drum and bass scene under her management and has started a sister label to the brand called Shotta Yard which she co-own’s.
Also, as one of the newest members of the Music From The Mothership collective Nay has some exciting things planned for 2024 including sets at Boomtown Festival, Shindig Festival, a
return to XOYO and so much more.

I tried to put a fitting tribute together for a guy who; as a DJ (along with LTJ Bukem) I learnt the most (from right up to the way/style/technique I DJ personally to the present day), from this music’s progression from Acid House into Rave music (when I was about to enter my teenage years with zero clue about anything!). I wish I had longer to do this, I could have done hours on end paying homage to the music he championed across my years of being a fan (we’re talking 31 years+ here), there’s literally too many years gone by to squeeze a proper tribute into a 1 hour slot (I feel) so I put it together how I felt like doing for the hour I had, Randall classics, tunes he championed as well as some of his own productions and remixes in there.

For the 2nd hour we have Division in the mix, fresh off the back of his sublime ‘Lost Souls EP’, out now.
