Helen Crane has her own voice, but this Scherzo has the sense of fun  that you find in some of the works of her compatriot George Whitefield Chadwick.

"Serenade" for Orchestra, op. 12 can be dated to approximately 1899; "Fruhlingslied" a piano composition  which the composer notated as op.13 was performed in April 1900 in NYC, so in all likelihood this piece was most likely composed before 1900; 1898 to 1899.  it was met favorable acclaim in Europe and the US.
