Tulum Come Down

This mix is inspired by two incredible weeks I spent in Tulum, Mexico to begin the new year. I'm grateful to have been able to play music with some extremely talented artists, at some amazing venues, both indoor and outdoor.  From the pristine white sand beaches, to the tropical heat of the jungle, to the dusty pavement of the small town, one can really feel a magical connection with this land. We danced with passion, explored the jungle, swam in cenotes, slept on the beach, took naps in hammocks, ate phenomenal fresh local cuisine, watched the sunset and sunrise daily, and celebrated life with many beautiful friends, both old and new. This mix is dedicated to all those wonderful people. The sonic journey ends with a field recording I made on the last day; one final rain shower to wash away any and all remaining negative energy. I hope this mix relaxes you and takes you on positive journey, guiding you into a healthy and prosperous 2016.  ~ Sabo

We're happy to present a talented emerging name in the music scene. Courtney Scott is a Brooklyn-based DJ whose style is heavily influenced by the sounds she discovers around the world and by her New York roots. Her first exposure to house music was in the late 90’s NYC club scene and she has been hooked since. Her deeply melodic sets are known for being infectiously percussive yet soft, infused with tribal and ethnic sounds. She is driven by the power music has to connect communities, to heal, and to transmit love in its purest form.

Courtney is also a leading on-air travel expert, filmmaker, blogger, and TV host who has appeared in over 300 interviews including national broadcast segments on Today Show, CNN and ABC News. 

She has explored six continents and each journey has left an indelible mark; from swimming with sea lions in the Galapagos islands, to volunteering in Cuba, to learning salsa in Colombia and seeing the sunrise over Hawaii’s Haleakala volcano. Courtney is driven by the power travel has to awaken, connect and inspire. 

In the male-dominated filmmaking industry, it is her mission to inspire other female travelers to explore the world through a filmmaker’s lens. Her personal, visceral style of storytelling has attracted brands like Porsche, Expedia, Refinery 29, Free People, Disney, Avianca and Marriott.

Before her travel career, Courtney worked in Marketing at MTV Networks and graduated with a BA in Communications from Loyola University in Maryland.When she’s not on the road, Courtney calls New York City home.

After the amazingness of last years 1001 nights Thursday session with Britta, expectations were high. My beloved 1001 nights family once again created a loving space of comfort, spirit and togetherness. Their intentions were to bring part heritage and culture to the playa. Generosity and sociability are the beauty of the Middle Eastern culture. We invited people to be part of it, indulge as royalty, and enjoy traditional offerings to share lovely connections under our dome. We welcomed all as if inviting visitors into our homes and our hearts.

Our stories represents us and our project and this flow became part of it. I love this dome and this family and i dedicate this to all of the ones who worked so hard to put it all together.

I always found it challenging to record a studio podcast: my analytical mind is trying to calculate every move, evaluate each transition & criticize the selection. I have time, music & equipment at my disposal, but one key element is missing to really tell a story: humans.

I encountered that problem last weekend. Although I was playing music I enjoy, I felt that my technically structured mix was too stiff and impersonal.

Then, some of my favourite humans turned up at the studio. As Ashley, Apolline, Axel & Robin entered the room, the studio was suddenly filled with a great energy & I felt like pressing the rec button again, just for fun - this is when the first minutes of  S y m b i o s e  were captured.

I feel this studio mix is an authentic representation of the energy levels I like to navigate through during a longer set. It features some of my favourite tracks in a nod to the past but also has a touch of the future; new sounds that are moving me forward & some of my new compositions.

I’m happy to share this mix as I’m taking off for Argentina, what marks my first adventure of the decade. This music session brought me clarity, presence & joy! I hope you'll resonate with it.
