Starting with the soulful 'Oh Darlin', Krooss steers us on the path of laid-back Chicagoan rhythms and feelgood Afro soulfulness, weaving solar-powered sensitivity with vaporous floor dynamics to hypnotic effect. A further balmy slice of atmospheric electronica tinged with hints of dream-pop and balearic house, "Staring" cruises at its own tranquil pace across colour-shifting horizons and gently jagged reliefs. Pumping out an exquisite blend of sluggish house jack alongside archetypal Andalusian flavours and bass-driven manoeuvres, 'Phoenix' (feat. Frida Darko) ticks all the boxes of a festival season-ready chugger, whereas 'Move Your Booty' relies on a slightly more low-slung melody and further languid swing. 

All in bounce and playfulness, 'Your Soul' pulls out a bass-heavy chassis mounted with EBM synths' firepower, nostalgic riffs and orient-flavoured melodic flights, injecting a sense of spiritual elevation to its solid club-focussed engineering. Drawing in a more subdued palette of rhythmic elements, sprinkled with an eerie melody and stripped-back synth funk, 'Inside of Me' makes for a perfect transition track, with 'Manaki' going a further jagged route, as Krooss draws further deep into the Italo style, infusing his stellar arps and brittle piano chords with a thick FX gravy. Contorting itself at the junction of straightforward jack and a more prog-minded construction that seem tailored for stadiums, 'Elasticity' (with Atish) finds Krooss at his most precise and adroitly versatile. 

Beaming up unadulterated joy and sunrays across its six minute-ish ride, 'Coquin' bounces back and forth, ushering us into a jam-packed hacienda where the thick volutes of freshly lit havanas coalesce with the exhilarating scent of ron. A trippy ride down memory lane, 'Back To The Oldschool' conjures up images and components straight out the 90s, buzzing with that fun swash of hip-hop and tech-tinged hybrid. A delicate slab of balearic-informed deep house, 'Mtende' serves up a lascivious mishmash of coastal iridescence and sub-Saharan style polyrhythms. Topping off that broad sweep across house's manifold colour chart, 'Tied In Knots' (feat. Harry Charles) treats us to an elevating mix of Spanish guitars and 303-marinated acid bass, taking us from classicism up the modernist ladder in the blink of an eye.

We were talking about the downtempo music scene. I mentioned that before I got into downtempo, I listened to a lot of Hip-Hop. 

At that time, my favorite recording was "You're Nobody Til Somebody Kills You" by Biggie, featuring himself, P.Diddy.

We shared ideas on how these genres, can intertwine into something new, and Diddy asks me to remix this record...

Then I woke up.

Sabo’s record label, Sol Selectas presents a mystical organic house EP by Jean Vayat which also features a remix from Emrat. 

Jean Vayat is a Ukrainian artist currently living in Los Angeles, United States. He has a nomadic style that blends sun drenched melodies with uplifting synths and flowing percussion. This is his first solo release on Sol Selectas following contributions to 5 of the imprint’s compilations, and it solidifies him as a core member of the label’s artist family. Jean Vayat has also featured on other respected imprints such as Go Deeva Records, Harabe, Baikal Nomads and Shango Records.

On remix duty, Emrat is a Ukrainian artist from Kiev making his Sol Selectas debut following tracks and remixes on other respected imprints such as kośa, Hoomidaas and MONADA. His style blends Arabic influenced melodies and traditional instruments with enchanting electronic sounds.

The EP's title track, "Changes" opens the release with acid bass stabs and a pulsating arpeggio synth that forms a foundation for Arabic strings and a haunting vocal by Mohsen Neshom.

Track two, "Good Morning" is a psychedelic track with spiralling synths, trippy vocal textures and a warped flute that adds to the track's hallucinatory vibe.

Third on the release and last of the originals, "Trayam Bagam" is a percussive cut with cinematic vocal chants that add to the epic sound of this invigorating track.

Emrat closes the release with his remix of "Trayam Bagam," which is an atmospheric version that strips back the percussion and adds additional synths that help create a more majestic version.

The cover by Helia Jamali takes us through a portal, to a parallel universe of constant changes.

The Other Side Records proudly presents BAYAAT, a duo comprising Wilco and Dennis, formed three years ago. Both deeply immersed in music -drums, piano, occasional DJ gigs -so when the clubs closed for some time, they turned their focus to producing music closest to their hearts. Their sound, relatively unheard in Dutch clubs and festivals, resonates with them and their listeners. Embracing the festival and club hiatus as an opportunity for growth, they channeled their energy into learning and creating music, birthing BAYAAT. 

Flowing with positivity and minimal stress, Bayaat embodies the ethos of 'baijaat', a term derived from the Westland region, nestled between The Hague, Delft, and Rotterdam in the Netherlands. Their track '648 AM' holds special significance, being both the first and last created song in Dennis's childhood home in Westland, known as 'Huize Caroline'. The house pays homage to one of the earliest and largest pirate radio stations, broadcasting from a ship in the North Sea since 1964, reaching over 7 million listeners. '648 AM' was the station's frequency, thus serving as a tribute to the house's legacy. On another note, the track encapsulates the feeling of returning home from a vibrant club night at 6:48 AM as the sun rises - an amalgamation of positivity with a hint of darkness, dancing until the early hours. 

The second track, 'Umami,' refers to the Japanese term for a taste that is difficult to define and is described as savory, full-bodied flavor that adds depth to a dish. The track 'Umami' embodies this essence. Full, rolling basslines build up to an old-school breakbeat that opens up space, only to return in multiple layers with the depth characteristic of a BAYAAT track As a finisher @avemsdream made a banging remix of BAYAAT's '648 AM' that will both blow you away and suck you in at the same time. Bayaat's music is not just a sound; it's an experience - a journey through moments of euphoria and reflection, anchored in the spirit of Westland and beyond.
