Swedish producer-duo LOKATT is back with their fourth EP, LITTLE REBEL. The EP will be released on their own label Oma Gusti in collaboration with Kranglan Broadcast (Harald Björk/Cocoon) in early spring 2024. All tracks produced by Johanna and Nina Piroth, with co-production by Barcelona based producer Dinky. First out, the single ‘Little Rebel’ on February 2. 

LITTLE REBEL is about finding your way in a world where norms and structures about how you should be and behave rule. It’s about breaking barriers and moving boundaries. To be that playing and exploring child, and to be reminded of that little punk in you, the little rebel. 

In 2015 LOKATT released their acclaimed debut EP ”Karg” on their own label Oma Gusti, the single The Hill was picked as ”one of the best dance tracks of the year” by Swedish National Radio P3 (Samir Yousufi). Further, in 2015 LOKATT released single Our Time, co-produced with Swedish artist/producer The Land Below. The debut was followed by Samoa EP 2017, single Me and AI 2019 and EP LA Dream 2020, with remixes by Swedish techno artist/producer Harald Björk. In 2022 LOKATT released the down-tempo winter hymn, In snow and time, with an ambient edit by Harald Björk. 

LOKATT also run the label Oma Gusti with releases by top name artists such as Harald Björk, Studio Barnhus, Nathan Fake, Missincat, Popnoname, The Land Below and Clara Moto. They also host the music podcast Man Machine, where they invite artists and producers to their studio in Stockholm. 

LOKATT is performing as a DJ-duo and is currently working on a live performance as well.

This particular episode was crafted over some warm-up tracks that I had the pleasure of dropping in a nearby bar at sunset. The rest of it was completed at home, I honestly would had played the entire set there, but my time was off! 😓

Melody Lab Selects Calystarr [SLCTS #35]

NYC-based producer and DJ Lauren Ritter (All Day I Dream, ReSolute, Rift Vision) returns to her roots with “Antigone // Sarus”, a new EP featuring two emotive, nostalgic, and melodic original compositions, “Antigone” and “Sarus,” that are sure to please fans of her All Day Dream 2015 debut Lark EP and her recent Rift Vision output alike. “Antigone” is an ever-evolving, bubbling, and driving number that showcases her classical music training and sensibilities, while “Sarus” is an airy, serene, glittering, and uplifting complimentary composition. Lauren invites friends Powel (DE – All Day I Dream) and Zone+ (BH – All Day I Dream / Satya / Mixcult) to provide their takes on both tracks, who each weave in dynamic grooves and vocal elements in their signature styles to underscore Ritter’s melodic motifs.

Lauren Ritter unveiled her imprint Rift Vision in 2020 during lockdown and has since released three emotive EPs encompassing her own solo compositions, collaborative works with Oakland-based poet Tenesha The Wordsmith (On The Corner), and remixes by lauded talent such as Octo Octa, Lawrence, Jenifa Mayanja, and Rrao. Stay-at-home DJ no more, Ritter has been back DJing in full force, with appearances incl the Zamna festival NYC, Do Not Sit Miami, Shameless Seattle, Public Records NYC. 2024 kicked off with a long-awaited return to Lee Burridge’s All Day I Dream label, with Ritter being featured in their winter compilation. This year will include more releases from Lauren, including another EP entitled Blue Nine on Rift Vision in November.

Premiere: Ron Flatter - Silver Circle [Pour La Vie]

The exceptionally talented Ukranian producer and sound designer Wisdom Water, a refreshing newcomer to the electronic music scene, brings us his mesmerizing debut EP ‘Anaphora’. This record dishes out one awesome dance-inducing tune after another, as he employs a prismatic ray of genres in order to make a fusion of all the realms of sound that inspire him. Exploring the fluidity of the in-between genre space is where Wisdom Water  nds the most inspiration and where he develops his most innovative sound concepts, and having the ability to navigate this domain is the reason he loves making music.

From progressive house to celestial electronica, ‘Anaphora’ embodies a magnetising spectrum of sounds. Each track introduces a new emotional context, and the feeling is accentuated the rhythmic and melodic structures that either create an atmosphere of ecstasy or entrance you into a state of numbness.

The  rst tune ‘Mile’ instills a sense of euphoria as the energising rhythms and quick- tempo looping melody combine with a bouncy beat and echoing percussive layers to produce the paramount uplifting dance hit. ‘Overmore’ follows with psychedelic synth sounds, a driving progressive house melody and a commanding beat with a truly intoxicating dance oor moment. The last track ‘Blue Dot’ delivers a slightly more somber hypnotising tone but still ensures a catchy clapping beat keeps you moving and a frenzy of hazy melodies collide with one another inebriating the mind of the listener.

Inspired by artists like Nathan Fake, Dark Sky, Overmono, Bicep, Floating Points, and FaltyDL, this record will have listeners addicted to the progressive looping house melodies it bears.
