I'll only cry in the rain (pop ballad)is of my own original composition and recording. There are two other versions of this song that have been remixed by DJ Marco and myself.

A multi lingual composer, artist, show host and model, Cathlyn (aka Bestpearl, meaning of her Korean name - Won Kyung) can be described as an ‘All-in-One’ artist whose music appeals to a diverse range of audience of different nationalities, cultures and generations. A Korean by nationality, Cathlyn was born in Saigon, Vietnam on August 5, 1968. In 1974, her family moved to Brunei in 1974 where she lived and grew up for 12 years.

The first English song that inspired and opened up Cathlyn’s musical ears and passion for music was Karen Carpenter’s “Yesterday once more” which she heard on the radio at aged 7. Then when she saw a young child playing electric organ on TV a few months later, she begged her parents to let her take organ lessons, which she started learning and continued to play till she was 15. 

At age 10, her first debut as a performer was on a live children’s talent show, “Bintang Brunei” at Radio Television Brunei, where she played electric organ in 3 shows. 3 years later, Cathlyn was invited by Radio Television Brunei’s Entertainment Director/Producer and Choreographer, Royston Goh to perform as a singer, dancer and fashion model for his TV shows as well as private events for the royal family for 4 years.

At the same time, Cathlyn joined a local 6 member band called “The Masters” as a lead vocalist and keyboard player, performing for local TV and Radio shows. She continued to work with Royston as a model and dancer in his shows until 1985 when she moved to Korea to further her studies.

In Korea, Cathlyn joined and sang as a soprano in the church choir for 15 years before moving to San Diego in March of 2000.

Inspired by her husband Eric, also a DJ and TV/Film Producer, Cathlyn decided to pursue her career in music and started composing her own music in 2006, focusing on World, pop and dance music for Film/TV and Commercial.

Cathlyn’s refreshing sound, with a twist of pop, jazz, inspirational and classic, incorporates the electronic dance music style and rhythms which she got to learn and inspired by her husband Eric. She has the ability to produce music and sing in a wide range of notes, rhythms and genre, incorporating the different styles of music that she grew up with and loves.

Cathlyn is currently DJing at private events while collaborating with several DJs and music producers to remix her original songs and composing her own music in her free time.
