The 'Pentecost Piano Rhapsody XXIII D major' is a bubbly piano piece. With a wink, it combines the festive character of Pentecost with an imaginative and playful atmosphere.

The piece begins with a musical firework in D major, which, with a mischievous smile, morphs into A major and later into the mysterious B minor. Harmonic turns are artfully staged, while the pianist skilfully switches back and forth between the keys as if performing musical juggling.

Amid the merry bustle there is a passage where the keys are made to dance at a tempo of 96. Here a comedic game unfolds between fast runs and mischievous chords, as if the piano itself begins to giggle with laughter.

As a special highlight, the Pentecostal Piano Rhapsody surprises with a short excursion into the D Lydian mode. This unexpected twist adds an exotic touch to the piece and creates a veritable oasis of sound.

The composition finally ends triumphantly in D major, as if all the musical elements come together in a grandiose finale. With virtuoso dexterity and a broad grin on his face, the pianist conjures up a colorful and humorous spectacle on the keys.

The Whitsun Piano Comedy is a professionally crafted piece that pushes the boundaries of piano playing with creative twists in music theory and technical finesse. It creates a lively and humorous mood that makes the audience smile and evokes a happy Pentecost celebration.

Was It Just A Dream

Over the years Rod has been involved in training and developing of singers and musicians as well as writing music arrangements for small stage band through to large orchestras, direction of major musical productions and song composition. 
He studied at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in Jazz Improvisation and Advanced Arranging, Rod has written many smooth jazz, Latin, blues and Easy Listening instrumentals. His main instrument is piano.
