This is the first edition of my irregular recurring show on gatekeeper radio:

The show is always based on a vibe you get along the way. 
For this, I always invite guests to take over half of the mix, I'll take the other half. 

For the first one, I've gone for a pretty broad theme: Create a mood that you might find yourself in at night, on the go, in a city.

Therefore, I invited the multi-talented producer and DJ duo A2iCE & BO3, who are known for their genre-blending sound that traverses techno, bass and experimental styles. I especially love their productions because they combine trippy, organic and atmospheric sounds with percussive, varied and bass-heavy rhythms. After they performed a live set at our sympuls.festival, I just had to ask them for this. 

Not surprisingly, their mix definitely hits the spot, starting off atmospheric before becoming more percussive and upbeat. Check it out!

Jana Kerima is an artist, producer and DJ. For her mix, she has taken a little journey through her favourite tracks at the moment, starting with dubby house numbers and then drifting into percussion. It is an essential part of her mixes that tell a story, that the tracks connect and that you can lose yourself in the music. The mix consists of 50 percent old vinyl releases, which she combines here with newer tunes to create a kind of timelessness. As a producer, she creates soundtracks for artistic projects alongside more experimental releases. Since 2012, Caldera (@caldera-caldera) has crafted a distinct fusion of techno and bass, known for its immersive sound design.

His rhythmic experimentation offers a fresh perspective on dance music, exploring a wide range of BPMs along the way.

His music has been released on respected labels like Nummer Music, Kimochi Sound, Pressure Dome, and Well Street Records.

About the mix:
“I wanted to start the mix slightly faster and with more energy than I usually do. I already had the Aleksi Perälä song in my head as an intro for a set so I went for it and built the mix from there. While doing the tracklisting the mix slowly dissolved into the emotional ambient ending which happened very naturally and felt right.”

London-based artist Sybil is a true storyteller behind the decks, celebrated in equal measure for her cinematic take on techno as she is for crafting deep ambient journeys that soothe the soul. Whether for the dancefloor or for introspective listening, her selections are always guided by a distinct emotional depth, weaving intricate sonics with a healthy dose of psychedelia for good measure. 

Exploring the inspiration for this flawless session, Sybil describes it as:

“I’ve dived deep into the ocean for this mix, a wave through time, flowing between psychedelia of the 70s, 90s, present-day and beyond. A modern take on 90s chillout mix CDs, a meditation on the ocean, a sun-soaked holographic daydream by the sea ~~~”

Monument Waves 005 : Sybil

Next up we have Columbian based DJ, Lopar. Originally from the central mountains of Colombia, Lopar remains in an inexhaustible search and exploration, with the ability to navigate effortlessly through different styles, from ambient, minimal, house, deep, dub to down tempo, dnb, breaks, IDM and more. He is currently NATURAL’s resident DJ, with a trajectory that is strengthened with more than 8 years of experience in which he has had the privilege of sharing booth with artists such as Neel, Polygonia, Blazej Malinowski, Paula Koski, Anthony Linell among others. Lopar carefully elaborates his sets, achieving each time to produce a different and unique soundscape and experience with a great musical instinct; transporting the listener to different spaces and times and transmitting emotions through his music.

1. How and why did you get into producing / dj’ing?
- It all started in 2014, when I was still a raver. I began to feel the need to convey to people the feelings and emotions that great DJs made me feel when I listened to them. I wanted to show the world my vision of electronic music.

2. Who, What/where was your most coziest gig you’ve been to or experienced and why?
- Without a doubt listening to Luigi Tozzi in 2019 at the Freedom Festival (Medellín) was truly an out-of-body experience. From that moment everything changed!

3. Do you consider yourself an introvert or extrovert in the scene?
-I think both hahahaha sometimes I like to be in the quiet of my house, discovering new music and other times I prefer to be surrounded by friends sharing knowledge.

4. If you had to choose 1 track to vibe out too forever, what would it be?
- Caramel Chameleon - Dronacid [phaserinterlude mix] This track for me is a real utopia. It always brings a tear to my eye.

5. What is your routine when preparing for a gig / production/writing session? Do you have any special remedies/ mental/physical prep/ places to go to?
- 5. The days before the concert I’m always looking for new music, I like to be able to bring that touch of authenticity to my sets. The rest is pure improvisation and reading the dance floor.

CoziMix 22 : Lopar

For the 30th Herbarium we are proud to present two special guests - @bambi__dj and @beatricem._bait. They brought a trippy dubby journey to the table, loaded with unique sound design and spacious grooves. We love the feeling when every detail sits in the right place as in their selection of tracks and elements. This creates an insanely immersive effect and hunger for more. Bambi and Beatrice M. chose the plant Mint (mentha) for their mix. 🌿

Here’s some insight about why they chose their plant: 
Bambi and Beatrice M.’s musical palettes intersect in a very specific zone, with some key words like psychedelia and dub. This can apply to the club interface, but as the summer surfs by, their need for freshness and a soothing soundtrack for the season translates in this mix’s selections. Therefore the choice of plant felt pretty intuitive : mint. A plant that stimulates several senses at once : its vivid green evokes lushness and renewal, its scent is sharp, almost cleansing, and its taste - cool, tingling, slightly sweet - lingers like an echo… Just like their selections, mint stands at a sensory crossroads - refreshing the body, teasing the mind, and awakening something just beneath the surface. 𖧧

About Bambi & Beatrice M.

Beatrice M. and Bambi are two french DJs who met through intersecting music circles, which is what their duo is all about. Take a venn diagram with on one side, Bambi’s library ranging from deep techno to trance to house to triphop, and on the other side Beatrice M. with mainly dub and dubstep. The crossing point of the two circles is always somewhat a little dubby, a little psychedelic, sprinkled with friendship and fun.

Next up in our mix series is Rotterdam-based producer, DJ and On Board Music founder Laura BCR - a vital presence both behind the decks and behind the scenes of contemporary electronic music. A former record store co-owner (Bass Cadet Records), booking agent, and head of the On Board agency and label, Laura’s dedication runs deep.

In this mix, Laura invites us into her more contemplative soundscapes, guiding us through a true evolving trip of shimmering synths and sun-kissed rhythms. It's deliberate and elegant - a lesson in patience and depth. As deep and mysterious, as it is warm and gracious. The perfect companion to stretched-out summer days, glowing nights or for inner voyages and golden hour reflections alike.

Inspired by cities and dancefloors where she's lived and explored, London-based Annx’s (@annx-anna-whomp) deep sound echos within her multi-genre selections. 

Her commitment to the scene goes beyond the booth with her events being a staple for psychedelic music on London's club circuit. As well as co-curating perspectives• with Nicole Gordon, she founded and curates Whomp with Lora Mipsum and is part of the Above Below Festival music team.

This mix floats around 140bpm, blending freaky textural bass with psychedelic techno and deep dubstep.

Known for his meticulous approach to production and his ability to weave complex narratives through sound, Felix K has carved out a unique space for himself in the global underground scene.

For this marathon journey, Felix K delivers a masterclass in patience and precision, guiding listeners through a three-hour odyssey that is as introspective as it is rhythmically compelling. The mix is a testament to his expansive musical knowledge and his ability to connect seemingly disparate genres into a cohesive, flowing narrative.

In his own words: "The mix was recorded in my studio in Berlin. With "Vivarium", Vienna-based live duo Mitra present their debut release and their first contribution to IO Records. Known for their immersive performances and site-responsive sound explorations, Mitra translate the raw intensity and spatial awareness of their live practice into a studio recording for the very first time.

The seven-track EP unfolds as a carefully composed sonic ecosystem. Each piece functions as a distinct organism within a living structure, contributing to a sound world that feels both precise and unpredictable. Rooted in deep listening, low-end exploration, and rhythmic subtlety, Vivarium invites audiences into an environment that is in constant transformation.
