I am late getting to this lovely and ambient work; what a sweet and meditative listen.

Amazing work, very calm and also emotional!

This is my version of the wonderful Opening by Philip Glass from Glassworks. It largely follows the piece as written, but I've added a a few bits of my own and not followed the structure exactly, hence slight rework.

This is one of the first pieces that caught my imagination when I began learning to play piano and it's taken till now for me to get to a point where I'm ready to share my take on it. I'm still very much a late starting learner with the piano, but hopefully there's enough here to get across the beauty of this piece of music.

The Wrongware Factory - Short Movie main theme. Now on Fetchflix

In order to make new friends, the new president of a small and idiocratic country decided to create a new agency called the Government Office of Optimized Failure, the GOOF, which is staffed by a bunch of 12 years old kids having the title of Government Office Overpaid Fools, the GOOFys and headed by an asparagus grower, who thinks he’s a genius. The GOOF is some kind of factory helping the government to creates chaos and uncertainties within the government until it implodes for the benefits of the plutocrats. Guess who will survive?

Musical notes: The wonderful main theme composed by Theodore Shapiro for Severence was somewhat my source of inspiration. I wanted my theme dystopic, simple and complex at the same time.

The Wrongware Factory

I'm not too sure how to say this, but I need to. I am not well. I don't know how long I will be able to continue playing the piano. It is getting hard. I have a degenerative neuromuscular disease. It is probably ALS - Lou Gehrigs disease, but they are still doing tests. I can't walk any more ( I can't move my feet) or sit up without a brace and it is getting harder to breath and speak. I often need oxygen. I'm losing my left arm arm - it won't always go to the right piano keys. But I keep pushing. Creating music keeps the brain active and makes me feel like I still have a purpose. Playing the piano has kept my hands and fingers strong, but there are days I can't make it to the piano because I am very weak. I will keep going as long as I can.

All of the music I have written in the last 50 years I have recordings of, along with hand drawn lead sheets and piano scores that I have keyed into musescore for all of the future musicians in my generations to come who might want to play my music. Music is my diary, especially all the songs with lyrics that were written before my time here on SoundCloud. I have been here for 10 years and have made friends with many other musicians. I want to thank everyone who has supported me. It has been a wonderful time for growth when I could no longer play gigs but wanted to keep writing. It is great for senior musicians and for those where music is a creative hobby, not a profession. There is room for everyone. 

I realized after I posted this that I had just used the piano track.  I put different instruments to it and did a new mix. I can't believe I did that.  



Diagnosis Unknown

My initial piano sketch for this piece aroused associations with two styles: nothern shanty and southern work songs. So when it came to composing and arranging the full piece, I lent heavily into these styles. They blended incredibly good and the result is some adventurous fantasy piece that gave me strong pirate-vibes. Hence the cover - Arrr!

J'air repris ici dans une toute nouvelle version un de mes premiers morceaux créés au moment où je m'étais acheté, il y a maintenant déjà quelques années, mon piano numérique (Roland FP30) qui m'enchantait à lui tout seul par ses sonorités nouvelles pour moi. Il perd malheureusement beaucoup ici de sa sonorité, car je ne peux le brancher à ma carte audio que par sa sortie casque.
