I don't think of prayer as a passive activity, but actively engaging and dialoguing with God about the state of affairs be it personal or of late, international in scope and consequence.  I am praying for Ukraine that their show of strength in the face of tyranny may be rewarded with freedom and peace. I'm praying also for Russia, a land of vast wealth and beauty, for the people whom I have come to know and love on the Cloud, that they may know it is a bad actor and not them who is to blame for the shadow that has fallen upon Europe, and in a broader sense, over all of civilization.  Peace is not the exception to human existence, bullets and bombs are.  Love is the state of normal we want to have, not hate.  I offer in this guitar meditation a prayer for peace.

lots of things that seem irrelevant in our lives can trigger powerful memories so pay attention to the world around you

on a kitchen table in a house on a hill
sits the photo of a lonely flower on a window sill

when I think of it I always think of you
and wonder if you recall that lonely flower too

we could sit at that window and talk of nothing all day
but look into the backyard at a field full of flowers

remember how we walked that day
it was warm and breezy
we just talked side by side
peacefully and silently

then we picked a flower from that very field
the one we loved the most, the one with most appeal
took it back and put it in a pot on the sill

we watered it every day hoping it would grow
I took a picture of it so it would never fade

I look at that photo when I'm tired or sad
though it's been years since I 've seen your  eyes or since I've held your hand
I know the lonely flower in the photo on the sill
will always keep your memory for me alive and well

We're late starters, hence the name.  Andy started playing and learning how to use a DAW to keep distracted during the covid lockdown, while Helen finally realised a long held ambition to have a go at singing, and is now both writing and performing.
