Written To Give Courage To Those In Need

Ive seen the sleeping giants destroy the darkest violence
Threw prayer and willful silence, White Light born of thunder
Ignite dark lands down under, Return to us our wonder
Of the magic left lost

The Giants told me of the fear, that followed weeping willow here, 
And took from root the food and water, to trade at the high kings table of slaughter, Who lived within the peoples minds, and nightmares spoke riddles and rhymes, till tales took form in the sacred wood, crooked clouds in the eyes and the bursting flood, When we become our only enemy we disregard the teachings of the trees, The wind will show us how to breath, When we surrender with White Light entities, Hibernate collect all of your energy, Till the moment when you learn how to break free, From the crooked cages of our minds, its in these shadows that truth we find, Our blood is where our power resides, Its ok if you gota take a moment to hide, But realign come on take your time, Sumtimes we just need to unwind, Its in your heart where healing lyes, Just tilt your chest towards the sky,

Arise Reggae Band - live 6-21-09 - Stir It Up

I fell in love with this song instantly. From the first strum of Miss Emily Browns Autoharp as she sang and played live solo and acoustic in the intimate Cafe Aleatoire on Saturday April 28th 2012.   Midway through the song a drum pattern and bass line triggered in my beat-box of a brain.  I sat spellbound for the rest of her set but that one song really grabbed me.  I asked Emily after the show if she had a recording of it that I could hear and maybe work on a remix. She handed over the Sum Of All parts EP.  Nice !  After we shared some stories of the road and the spoke with pride about the wonderful islands in B.C.  We exchanged contact info and encourage the idea of crossing path again soon. 
 I headed back to my studio around the corner loaded the tracks and listened to the Ep on headphones . I found out that the Sum of all Parts Ep is a lovely, very acoustic meets minimal drum machine folk fairytale. The perfect late night lay in bed and and listen on headphones audio experience.  Also the perfect format to sample from, being that there was  minimal instrumentation but it still moved at a nice steady beat.  I started work on the track that night around 4 in the morning.  It was raining hard outside and the multiple buckets I had placed around the studio to catch the drips from the swiss cheese size holes in my roof were making amazing percussion sounds. I mic-ed them up and started placing them rhythmically throughout the track.  I added  a big Sub Bass, a bunch of swingy drums and off and away we were into the piece you are about to listen too now!
