After we played our first show together, the Zeds dead guys and I really wanted to do a track together. They sent me a few ideas and the chord progression for this track really stood out to me and I immediately wrote some ideas for vocal chops and arrangement. A few months later we met up in LA and got in the studio to lock in the main idea and find a vocal. I originally pictured a track between us to be a bit heavier, but once we wrote these melodies and vocal chops I really fell in love with the emotion of the track.

This was by far the most challenging track I've had to remix, because the original is one of the greatest songs I've ever heard.  I tried about 7 different times to remix this track, and with no luck.  However, on attempt number 8, I somehow hit the nail on the head.  I've had this done since the week the original was released.  About two weeks after that, a MASSIVE wave of remixes came, so I decided to wait a bit.  The time has come, so I present to you Closer Remix 8 :) 

Honestly, I'm just as sick of these remixes as you are.  Hopefully this will put an end to them, if Jauz's hasn't already.

In a bizarre twist of events, from listening to @Gramatik's Expedition 44 & Street Bangers series as a high school freshman (which really set the groundwork for my approach to funk-infused electronica), to having him personally reach out for a remix was surreal. I had the entire Epigram record to choose from, and my ears were out for this one because of the soulful, tongue-in-cheek vocal. I kept most of the swing from the original record, while giving it a overpowered, gospel-esque boost. Play this one loud!!
