Written 6 years ago, while in the midst of digesting the failed attempt at what seemed to be a promising relationship, #WhenWeOwnedTheWorld is brought to life in present time, as Reki* sings over a muscled, hip-hop beat, produced by BRNDNactvst. This is yet another turn - in what most would consider an unexpected musical direction - for Reki*, as the thick, visceral bass line of the music connotes attitude and poise, the lyrics, however, play to a vulnerable and bleak theme, in a state of mourning over the loss of something great; he is accompanied by the quick-witted rap artist Bleach Stain, who in turn adds his own bittersweet lyrical recollection into the mix. When added together, 2 sides of the same coin are revealed. There was a bit of defiance and retaliation to the rejection; but conversely, there was desperation and longing over the individual. After exorcising the demons, Reki* had come full circle - faced with the decision to continue retaining it all within or transforming the situation inside-out and creating music from it. ENJOY! LIKE!
