To be fair, the right to bear arms isn't the first amendment in the US. The first amendment is freedom of religion, speech, and whatever. Guns is the second. Only after that's sorted do we worry about fair trials, abolishing slavery, prohibiting then un-prohibiting alcohol, and letting women vote.
