Part of it is nostalgia for me, and good tunes for sure! I’m a little younger than you. So I moved with the musical times. As I became an adult, I learned that music isn’t entirely organically produced.

My worldview is one of conspiracy and darkness and hope and triumph, good vs. evil, that sorta thing. So in my opinion, when synthwave came along in a relatively organic way, I loved it for being so obviously anti-mainstream, which I already hadn’t been enjoying for quite some time. Even though it comes from mainstream roots (the music from the 80’s itself, daft punk), current (2009) mainstream was clearly signaling a rejection of that old way of culture. So to have synthwave come along and release all of these wonderful emotions about hope, love, joy, etc., combined with a sound that is so refined+pleasing, it just touched me like nothing else was.

I know it won’t last forever, but I want to thank you for being a huge part of how this community is guided and grown❤️

Star Trek TNG Season 7 was pretty great as I remember it

Love this song. His voice is very similar to Vincent Cavanagh's from Anathema. If you listen to Temporary Peace by Anathema, I think you'll notice it.
