Portuguese ritual ambient entity WOLFSKIN returns with Ring of Spheres, a transcendental new work that expands the project’s long-standing devotion to metaphysical sound into cosmic territory. Conceived as a meditative and transformative journey, Ring of Spheres distills the essence of ritual music to its purest form: vibration, resonance, and spiritual ascent.

Recorded across a series of focused sessions with gongs and analog electronics, Ring of Spheres marks one of WOLFSKIN’s most disciplined and immersive explorations to date. The album is built entirely from these two elemental sound sources, a deliberate limitation that births vast sonic worlds from minimal matter. Each tone unfolds like the motion of celestial bodies, each pulse echoing through the void, forming a “cosmic liturgy” that blurs the boundaries between physical and spiritual space.

The conceptual framework of Ring of Spheres draws from Hermetic Alchemy, guiding the listener through the seven classical stages of the Magnum Opus, from the nigredo of dense matter and human limitation, through the successive refinements of albedo, citrinitas, and finally into rubedo, the red dawn of spiritual union. Each track mirrors a phase of transmutation, leading toward the ultimate Sublimation, the dissolution of the material self into pure, radiant consciousness.

The album unfolds as an extended act of meditation and initiation. The gongs act as both instrument and symbol: circular, radiant, resonant, their sound waves describing the eternal cycles of creation and dissolution. Beyond Sensory Experience announce "In This Our Life", a new album that extends and deepens the austere, melancholic sound they have refined since their formation in 2001. The duo continue to balance sparse, cinematic atmospheres with richly layered textures and haunting melodic motifs.  

"In This Our Life" follows a sequence of records that critics have described as immersive, melancholic and beautifully unsettling, works which place the duo among the most discreetly consistent voices in contemporary dark ambient. Previous releases were praised for their ability to create vast emotional registers from minimal material, a characteristic the new album amplifies while exploring more expansive song-forms and dynamic contrasts.  

Stylistically, the album keeps the trademark BSE touch: low-frequency washes, distant vocal fragments, analogue warmth and crystalline, slowly unfolding harmonies. Where earlier records often emphasized brooding stasis, "In This Our Life" moves the project into more narrative territory, allowing passages of melancholic catharsis to emerge from dense, claustrophobic beds of sound. Birds Drink My Blood is the second full-length album from Born Erased, the latest solo venture of Bulgarian musician Angel Simitchiev. Conceived as a meditation on nature’s brutal beauty, the album channels the relentless flow of the natural world, its internal hierarchies, and the unseen forces that shape it. Electronic instrumentation forms the foundation of the record, marking this as the closest Born Erased has come to the final works released under Simitchiev’s now-retired Mytrip alias.

Where I Am The End Of The World (BLWBCK, 2023) relied on the tension between acoustic drums, distorted guitars and ambient electronics, Birds Drink My Blood turns inward, placing its focus firmly on electronic expression. Across six pieces, the music moves between stillness and intensity, occupying a space where fragile motifs and submerged power coexist.

Born Erased once again opens the door to collaboration. French electronic artist Mondkopf contributes his intricate synth work to the track “Unmade,” while Denmark’s Vanity Productions brings his signature melancholy-drenched feedback and noise experiments to the abrasive “Dead Sun Emblem.” These collaborative tracks enhance the album’s contrasts, highlighting moments of interplay between guest interventions and Born Erased’s core sound.

With The Journey to Reach the Fathers, Italian dark ambient visionary New Risen Throne delivers a monumental work of sonic transcendence, a meditation on death, ancestry, and the dissolution of the self.

The album unfolds as an inner passage beyond the boundaries of life, a transition into a realm suspended between memory and disintegration. Across five symbolic gates, the listener follows the path of a soul crossing from the mortal plane into ancestral depths. Each threshold represents a shedding, of fear, of guilt, of the fragile remnants of individuality, until what remains is no longer identity, but essence.

At the heart of this passage stands the Father: both guide and archetype, a primordial presence linking end and origin, loss and continuity. This is no promise of redemption or paradise, but a return to a distant, pre-human realm, where the lineage of the fathers of the fathers persists, silent and eternal, beneath the surface of all becoming.

Beyond Sensory Experience (BSE) is a dark ambient music project created by Drakh and K. Meizter in Uppsala, Sweden 2001. After several releases on the cult labels Old Europa Cafe (Italy) and Cold Meat Industry (Sweden), BSE are now signed by the Canadian dark ambient specialists at Cyclic Law. Their latest release, Faint, was released in November 2013 and is the second outcome on Cyclic Law and BSE's 8th full-length album.
