การเมืองกลับมาคึกคัก หลังพรรคการเมืองเริ่มเปิดตัวผู้สมัครชิงเก้าอี้ผู้ว่าฯ กทม. โดยเฉพาะการโยนชื่อ ‘ผู้ว่าฯ หมูป่า’ ณรงค์ศักดิ์ โอสถธนากร ของพรรคพลังประชารัฐ และการเปิดตัว ดร.เอ้-สุชัชวีร์ สุวรรณสวัสดิ์ ของพรรคประชาธิปัตย์ เป็นสัญญาณชัดว่าการเลือกตั้งผู้ว่าฯ กทม. ใกล้มาถึงแล้วสอดรับกับคำยืนยันของนายกฯ ว่าเลือกตั้งผู้ว่าฯ กทม. ไม่เกินกลางปี 2565 

ในการเมืองไทย กรุงเทพฯ คือประเทศไทย การเลือกตั้งผู้ว่าฯ กทม. จึงมีนัยต่อการเลือกตั้งสนามใหญ่ ประชาธิปัตย์จึงหวังทวงแชมป์อีกครั้งเพราะรู้ดีว่าเก้าอี้ผู้ว่าฯ กทม. ย่อมส่งผลต่อคะแนนเลือกตั้ง ส.ส. เขตกรุงเทพฯ นี่คือข้อเท็จจริงทางการเมืองที่ไม่ใช่แค่ประชาธิปัตย์ที่รู้ แต่ทุกพรรคการเมืองต่างรู้ดี

อย่าลืมว่า ผู้ว่าฯ อัศวิน ขวัญเมือง อยู่ในตำแหน่งจากการแต่งตั้งของ พล.อ. ประยุทธ์ มายาวนาน และการเลือกตั้งใหญ่ครั้งที่ผ่านมาพลังประชารัฐก็กวาดเก้าอี้ ส.ส. เขต กทม. ได้มากเหนือความคาดหมาย นี่คือสองเหตุการณ์ที่เหมือนจะไม่เกี่ยวข้องกัน แต่ในทางการเมืองมันเกี่ยวข้องกันได้เสมอ 

ศึกชิงผู้ว่าฯ กทม. ครั้งนี้จึงดุเดือดเข้มข้น เพราะรายชื่อที่ออกมามีทั้ง ชัชชาติ สิทธิพันธ์-ณรงค์ศักดิ์ โอสถธนากร-สุชัชวีร์ สุวรรณสวัสดิ์ และ อัศวิน ขวัญเมือง
