Benny Fisher’s new single Teenage Dream floats onto airwaves on 15 July. The song highlights the typical well-intentioned and loving advice parents give their teenage children. 
“Find a good book to read,” “Play as a team” “Are you having trouble with bullies? Well, try and ignore them.” “Er… yeah thanks mum, easier said than done when they’ve got me in a headlock!”
One key universal message is to be true to yourself (“Don’t forget that it’s beautiful just being who you are.”) The irony here is that teenagers often have a tough time figuring out exactly who they are.
So ‘Teenage Dream’ is a song that embraces the beautiful, messy, and mysterious search for our identities.
Does this all sound a little heavy? 
You won’t notice, because the whole song is as light as a fluffy omelette paired with a crisp Sauvignon Blanc.
With his signature sound of warm synths, piano, and acoustic guitar, Benny has crafted a soothing and satisfying cure for the summertime blues.

Lovers Rock

Like many before him, Benny Fisher tackles the grand theme of love and relationships on his new single Love Come Back.
With its blend of keyboards, flute, acoustic guitar and nursery rhyme call-and-response vocals, the mood of Love Come Back takes several twists and turns.

Benny says: “At the start, the narrator is reflective and sorry for himself. In the second half, the outlook brightens (‘now that I’m a better man’) and there’s more hope of saving the relationship (‘let’s turn this freefall into a dance.’).”

Post-pandemic, Love Come Back is the latest in a run of singles that Benny has created at home on limited equipment: a Tascam 8-track digital recorder, a Yamaha keyboard, a Martin acoustic and some effect pedals. Benny sings and plays all instruments and does not use a computer for recording or mixing.

Benny says: “My studio set-up has its pros and cons, but I think having limitations has generally been a good thing and helped me find a sound.”

Adding backing vocals is Colin Macdonald, an American expat who, like Benny, lives in Bologna, Italy. Colin was a successful 2022 contestant in the Italian edition of The X Factor.

Benny says: “Colin is from Philadelphia and so much amazing music has come out of that city. With his soulful harmonies, I am so happy Colin joined in and brought some true Philadelphia spirit to the party.”

Lyrical, liquid guitar work and a propulsive bassline are brought to the fore by the Mad Professor (aka Neil Fraser). 
The result is a minimalist, dreamy piece of music seasoned with beautiful sonic details.
